Emergency Service Programs

SAFETY PROGRAM
Albany Med FLIGHT can provide emergency service personnel with a helicopter safety orientation. This presentation consists of a 1 hour slide presentation provided by a member of the flight crew. Following the presentation the helicopter will fly to the outreach location to make an on-site landing (pending availability).

*how to select and set-up a landing zone
*safety considerations when working around a helicopter
*how to assist in loading the patient
*medical capabilities of the flight team
This program is available to EMS, Fire, Police, and Ski Patrol personnel. REMO and Western Massachusetts have approved this offering for continuing education credit.

AIRCRAFT DEMONSTRATION
Albany Med FLIGHT is available to participate in a variety of on-site demonstrations and drills with the helicopter.

*Mass Casualty / Community Disaster Drills
*Mock DWI Crashes for High School Students
*Special Department Events (i.e. Anniversary Celebrations)

MEDICAL EDUCATION
The Albany Med FLIGHT medical providers are highly skilled and knowledgeable on a variety of medical topics. A Med FLIGHT nurse or paramedic can provide in-house lecturing as part of your department's continuing education program.

Hospital Programs

INTERHOSPITAL TRANSFER PROGRAM
Albany Med FLIGHT can provide a slide presentation to your staff members detailing interhospital transfers by helicopter. The aircraft can be brought to your facility, following the presentation for a demonstration.

*automatic patient acceptance at Albany Medical Center
*critical care capabilities of the flight team
*benefits of air medical transport versus ground transport

AIRCRAFT RELOCATION
Albany Med FLIGHT will consider remote locating the helicopter to your facility for a portion of a day. This can be performed in order to provide education to your staff on the benefits and capabilities of Albany Med FLIGHT. Remote location of the helicopter allows considerable time for all of your staff members to view the aircraft and speak to the crew personally. This can be accomplished in conjunction with a hospital open-house, public health fair, or staff training day.

Programs for the Public

CIVIC PRESENTATION
Albany Med FLIGHT is available to speak to community groups about our service. A short slide presentation is available to educate the public about the benefits of air medical transport and how our service is utilized. Med FLIGHT team members have been guest speakers at a variety of charitable organization meetings including
Lions Club and Shriner's meetings.

SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS
Albany Med FLIGHT is available to speak to school groups regarding a variety of topics including the dangers of drunken driving, seatbelt and helmet utilization. Med FLIGHT team members can also participate in "career days", where they can speak about the exciting air medical enviroment.

AIRCRAFT DEMONSTRATIONS for the PUBLIC
Albany Med FLIGHT  may be available to bring the helicopter to large public events. These demonstrations are usually reserved for events where public safety is being showcased.
