The Pomona Valley (of So. Cal.) Manga & Anime Association
"Po Val Manganime"
TM

"A different type of Anime club for a different type of Anime fan."  Now what is that supposed to mean ?  Come & find out ; plus it just sounds good also. (-:

What is Manga & Anime, & what is it not ?  [click here] to find out if you do not already know (& even if you do know).

A public club for Manga & Anime fans & artist in the Pomona, Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino, Chino, or Corona areas of California.
Those in the San Gabriel Valley are very welcome to attend meetings & join the club.

You do not need to live in the Pomona Valley or even California to be a member ; members are accepted world wide.
Finally, a (or another) public Anime club in the P.V. (since 1998). There is another Anime club in the area but it is private (the one (one of the ones) in the Claremont Colleges). This club was started in part as a revolt to those "stuck up [beep beep]". (Most college & university Anime clubs (even those at private institutions) are open to the public. Whether it is their policy or the school policy, the people behind the C. C. club must have something stuck up their behind (a__).) Note : there is another (Anime) club in the Claremont Colleges, but I am not sure if that one is "private" or not ; more info. when I find out more about it. The other public Anime club in the area is the one at Cal. Poly. Univ., Pomona Campus & they are a "cool" group of people (& they are one of the few college or university Anime clubs to have meetings during summer).

The club meets the first Saturday of the month at 6pm (& sometimes has special meetings at other times) at the Cable Chapter of the E.A.A. facility at Cable Airport in Upland, California, U.S.A.  > Click here < for directions.
At first, the club met on the first Friday of odd numbered months & the first Saturday of even numbered months ; this was due to a 50/50 response when people were asked which of either day would be best for them. Now it is the first Saturday of of the month due to the preference of those in attendance & the schedule & convenience of the host.

Meetings are on hold until further notice.  Contact us for more information.

Sometimes last minute (or hour(s)) circumstances may cause a meeting not to happen. I will provide telephone numbers &/or other contact information to check to see if a meeting will go on or not. I am not going to post that information on an open web page ; please e-mail me for that information (e-mail add. is later on this page).

Meetings & viewings are FREE.  Parking is free also.
Membership cost is $10 per year ($12 for an engaged or married couple in the same household) which includes a monthly newsletter.

We show movies & series, of course, but we also let attendees "take the floor" & talk about or show anything Manga or Anime related. If we are lucky, we sometimes have a guest speaker. Open yet orderly discussions are sometimes part of the meetings also. In the future, there may be raffles.

Attendees are also invited to bring video(s) they would like to have shown as long as arrangements are made with the organizer. (Subtitled is preferred, straight Japanese ("raw") is OK, dubs only if we are that desperate. It does not matter if it is commercial or not since there is no charge for viewing. It also does not matter if it is a fan sub of something that now is commercially subbed or dubbed for the same reason.)

Features for the next meeting :
    None, meetings are on hold.

Please read this paragraph &/or this statement & the part that follows it if you are uncomfortable with "raws" or think it may be a waste of time. (Click on the links.)

R.M., one of the members, says,"You may not want to eat or drink when watching the show because if you laugh it will come out of your nose.".
I wonder if that is based on a personal experience she may have had. (One of those "you had to be there" s).

If the club host is in a good mood (& is not broke), he may offer airplane rides to whoever is there.

Staff or whatever you want to call us (me) :
> "the strange & weird" S.G. (a.k.a "who or what the hell is that") - just about everything (now). "Whaaaa, I miss my helpers & crew ; "the gang" !".  His Manga & Anime page.  To e-mail him ; 2nd e-mail.

The meetings sometimes have this type of atmosphere :
Tylor & his/the crew party on the Soyokaze.
Hey, where is Azalyn ?!

E - mail : Anime Pet or Pet Anime @ AOL.com  (Note to Hotmail & MSN mail users : If you e-mail me & do not get a reply (if a reply was warranted) in a reasonable amount of time, it is because my reply (or other e-mail(s)) can not get to you. Unfortunetly, Hotmail & MSN blocks & filters are so strong it/they block wanted e-mail &/or e-mail that is not "spam".)
Please, send only e-mail pertaining to the subject of this page. NO "junk" e-mail, e-mail with a porn. site, etc. You will just be wasting your time & mine (; a "remove" message is all you will be getting, if any at all).
Regular mailing address :
                                                    P. V. M. A. A. A.
                                                      P. O. B. 1771
                                      Joshua Tree, CA  (U.S.A.)  92252

This club is non-profit.

(For those of you familiar with So. Cal. cities & towns : Yeah yeah, I know Joshua Tree is not in the Pomona Valley, but I did not want to to get a new p.o.b. for now so I use my J.T. mailing address. (I live in both the Joshua Tree area & the Pomona Valley, but I sure am not going to put a house address on the internet.))

I am now starting a club in the Morango Basin : Morango Basin Manga & Anime Association.

(This club is only vaguely associated with the Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers Association (Astronomy, not Astrology), the Pomona Valley Pilots Association, & the Pomona Valley Air Fair (site 2 : Pomona Valley Air Fair) due to the founder & host is or was a member of those clubs. There is no association with any other clubs or businesses that are called or named Pomona Valley ____.)

"Blowing our own horn" section. The type of stuff you would read or hear in an advertisement.
> "We do not induce deafness or make your ears bleed at these meetings (yet you can still hear the presentation, even if someone is talking or laughing)."
> "One of the best sounding Anime showings around, due to the host being an audiophile & involved in pro. audio, studio, & premium home systems & set ups (& using very well designed & very well made equipment also)." (Too bad this guy is not on the video room staff of the conventions.)
> "Here you can enjoy those ending songs (or use that time to chat alittle before the next thing starts)."
> "A regular treat : Japanese commercials !"
> "What is the big hurry ?  Relax & enjoy (for a change)."
> "(Alot) more than just showing videos."
> "Oooooh, nice & comfy seats (available) (even a couch/sofa), unlike those in a classroom or most lecture halls, & no attached desk to get in the way ; leg room also. (But if you still want to put your feet &/or legs up, we can accommodate.)"
> "Microwave oven conveniently accessible."
> "Want to bar-b-que while watching Anime ?  No problem." (There is a BBQ on the outside of the meeting room (& it is very rare that the smoke enters the room, even with the doors open).)
> "Many nearby restaurants ("fast food" & regular)."
> "Soda / soft drink vending machine in the room (& it is not noisy)."
> "Good view of the valley (even better from the top of a (nearby) stairway that goes to another part of the airport)."
> "Nearby restrooms, that are clean."
> "Wow, park within a few meters (or yards) of the meeting room !"
> "Wheelchair accessable."
> "Hey, you may learn a thing or two or more about airplanes &/or aviation if you are willing to."
> "Do not worry, you are not the one on the menu."
> "Meeting at Cable airport : the largest privately owned & family owned public use airport in the world. (Based on the number of aircraft based there, not land coverage or number of takeoffs & landings.)"
