Ever have one of those years?  Ok, ok, we're off to a slow start this year, and quite honestly, the way things are going, Ginchy! may not make it much longer... like Aunt May in that iron lung, we're holding on for dear life... now don't you feel guilty for buying that motorbike when your poor Aunt needs her medicine?? Haven't you learned that with great power comes great responsibility?!? You oughtta be ashamed of yourself.

03-06-99

Alright, we're back in business.  After a month off, due to nothing really more exotic than a temporary sense of apathy, the new issue of Ginchy! is finally on-line this week.  To everyone that's visited our site in the last few weeks, thanks for your patience... hopefully you'll come back now that we've got something new up!  Once again, I'd like to thank PHIL HALL, a brilliant bloke who's been giving us a bit of press in his web column in the excellent UK comic monthly COMICS INTERNATIONAL, and welcome to everyone who decided to check us out due to Phil's urgings.  Enjoy the new issue, and remember, we're always open to new contributors.

02-10-99

Due to the employment crisis, Ginchy! is a tad short of staffers of late!  To ease the "crushing" burden on our overworked editors and contributors, we're going to go bi-weekly for the immediate future.  Look for a brand spankin' new issue #42 to hit the air waves next week, but in the mean time, why not take this opportunity to fulfill your lifelong dream and CONTRIBUTE to Ginchy!?  Reviews, Columns, Letters, Raves... hey man, it's all up to you! *

(*guaranteed to impress all the guys on the couch at your local comic shop, or your money back... ummm... well, anyway, take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime offer NOW!)

As those wacky lads from BLUR sing on Song 2, Wooo hooo!! Issue #41 was an uphill battle, and while it may not be pretty, *dammit* it's honest!  Follow the link above and enjoy.  Keep in mind that we at Ginchy! are always looking for writers to contribute reviews, columns and the ever popular RAVES, so feel free to e-mail our editor in chief Joe Lunday for contributor guidelines.

-Links:

Comic publisher sites:
  • DC COMICS -- Ok, need I really say more? Check out the official site for news, articles and lots and lots of great artwork on upcoming projects.
  • WILDSTORM PRODUCTIONS -- All your faves from Jim Lee & Co. (and, uh, DC)
  • MARVEL COMICS -- Again, 'nuff said.  Marvel's official site offers much the same as you'd expect, including previews of upcoming books, what's shipping this week and this month as well as some exclusive online content.
  • IMAGE COMICS -- This page links to pages for most of the remaining Image titles, like SPAWN, THE SAVAGE DRAGON and the TOP COW stuff.  Hurry and see them before they get absorbed by a worldwide entertainment conglomerate too!
  • DARK HORSE COMICS -- From the fine folks that bring you such classics as HELLBOY, MADMAN, Frank Miller, STAR WARS and lotsa manga titles... and don't forget Buffy!
  • FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS --  The classic home of such luminaries as Peter Bagge, Robert Crumb, los Bros. Hernandez,  et al.  The official site contains info on new and upcoming releases
  • DIAMOND COMIC DISTRIBUTORS -- Everyone's favorite Uber-distributor offers this site for your viewing pleasure.  included are listings of what's shipping when and other news tid-bits.
  • VIZ COMICS -- One of the largest American translators of quality manga.
  • AND THE REST... -- Here's the entire list of Comics Publisher sites from YAHOO!... go nuts!  Seems like most every company no matter how small has some sort of web presence these days.
COMIC/REVIEW/entertainment sites:
  • MANIA MAGAZINE/NEWSRAMA -- AnotherUniverse.com's online magazine.  One of the best sources for up to date comic news is featured here as well as other general entertainment news.
  • RAMBLINGS '99 -- Great source for rumors pertaining to the comic industry.
  • COMIC BOOK CONTINUUM -- Another good site for comic news, courtesy of DETROIT NEWS.
  • AIN'T IT COOL NEWS -- Love him or hate him, internet entertainment correspondent Harry Knowles' site covers up and coming projects in the TV and Movie scene, with a slight emphasis on genre (sci-fi) features.  Usually has reports on first look screenings of films and much more.
  • ANIME TURNPIKE -- *The* best and most comprehensive source for all things anime and manga related.
  • COMICS2FILM -- Ginchy!'s own Ian Casselberry recommends this site for being chock full of creamy goodness.
  • COMIC BOOK RESOURCES -- JonahWeiland was kind enough to link to our site from his own, the aptly named COMIC BOOK RESOURCES page.  The name says it all: it's a great source of information on comics in general, with lots of groovy links.  We certainly appreciate the extra exposure, and we're glad to  return the favor.
  • SWIPE OF THE WEEK -- One of my favorite comics related sites, the SOTW page delivers just what it promises: to "document" and evaluate possible art "swipes" found in mainstream comic book artwork. Typically sent in by readers, the SOTW site shows the "source" and the "swipe" side by side, letting the reader vote it either a swipe, an homage or a coincidence.  Definitely eye-opening.
mailing lists:
  • ZENTERTAINMENT -- Probably THE best free source of general entertainment related news, Sean Jordan covers every corner of the entertainment industry from comics to TV to movies to amusement parks.  Click on the link to subscribe, please include "SUBSCRIBE" somewhere in the message.
