"For the Birds" by the Joe Davidian Trio
Our premiere jazz CD, For the Birds by the Joe Davidian Trio, was released in the summer 1999. Joe is 18. He graduated from high school as this CD was released. Comor Elmes (drums) also graduated this year. Ellen (bass) graduated a few years ago. The trio opened for Danillo Perez at the Flynn theater in Burlington as part of the Discover Jazz Festival. Here are some exerpts of reviews of the CD:
"It's difficult to imagine a trio, famous or obscure, old or young, that sounds better, and it's equally difficult to grasp the fact that Davidian is still in high school." "What's remarkable about this collection or new and familiar material is the abundance of sublety and understatement, hardly what would normally be expected of an artist so new to his craft." A.C. Hutchison, Editor, The Times Argus "Young pianist, Joe Davidian, barely out of high school is already developing a reputation as one of the most promising new talents in the Burlington area jazz scene. His recent release, For the Birds, is an uncommonly mature freshman effort." Bill Barton, Seven Days
