Some Of Our Horses
Here are just a very few of the horses we have worked with over the years:
Beauty, our first rescue, shown here with our friend (and favorite Brit) Yasmine. Beauty turned out to be a barrel horse who taught me and my daughter to run barrels and poles.

Flash came here in extremely emaciated condition (remember that pictures add weight). He nearly fell getting out of the trailer, and when he would lay down, he had trouble getting back up. Lots of TLC and some basic vet maintanance (such as dental float and worming) quickly brought him back into the condition you see on the right. He is an ex roping horse and is now used for pleasure riding.

Honey just needed a new home. She is shown here running barrels in 2005. She has now won money in barrel racing associations.

Doc, a young Doc Bar bred Quarter Horse, came to us when some horrible person cut his tail off (bone and all) with a sharp object. Months of vet care and surgery got the wound healed, and he now is a pampered pet and pleasure riding horse at a show barn.

Magic came to us after being involved in a major roping accident, where he got tangled in the rope and was thrown to the ground, causing major injuries. Unfortunately the injuries were not treated properly and it was too late when he came to us. He was a happy pasture pet for some time, but after a couple of years things had progressed to the point that he could hardly walk, and the only kind thing to do was to humanely euthanize this sweet boy. Sometimes doing the right thing really hurts.

Micky came to us spoiled and thinking he was in control. Some retraining and learning to respect people again was all he needed. He is a talented horse, as well as being sweet. This is why we try to match prospective adopters with the right horse, to avoid situations like that if we can. Not all owners would have been as kind to him, many just send them to the local auction, not wanting to take responsibility for the animal they chose. (It is rarely all the horse's fault when there is a problem.) Micky is now competing and winning hunt seat competitions.

This little BLM Mustang mare was found by a volunteer starving, with a yearling and a newborn foal both nursing her. (This picture makes her look fat.) Both foals were undersize and very thin. Foals were weaned immediately and the younger one was hand raised. All 3 now have loving homes. The previous owner of these horses was just too ignorant about horse care to realize what he was doing. (We are at least giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming that.)

Moe is a big TB gelding who was brought to us to find a new home for. He was too strong for his previous owner and just needed a different type of horseperson. We wanted to keep him ourselves, what a nice horse! He now has a new home and is cross country jumping.

Ginger came to us when her owner died and the surviving children, knowing their father had loved this mare, wanted to find a great home for her. She turned out to be a great lesson horse. She is now in a loving home that provides the best of care.

This is just as small percentage of horses that we have worked with. We have now had well over 100 horses come through these gates.
