Dear Singles Scene:
My wife and I would like to let you know we met through your publication
and we are wonderfully happy. We have been married for 18 months and are
growing together spiritually, physically and emotionally every day. We noticed
your article "Make a list of what you want" in the 10/91 issue,
and that is exactly what we have done. We enumerated our desires in a mate,
prayed, and gave it to our Father in trust and faith. Everything we wrote
down materialized except more attributes than we thought we wanted. We cannot
think of anyone anywhere who could have fulfilled that special role of mate
other than the one our Father gave to us. He does know our needs much more
than we do.
We thank our Father for His blessing, and also your publication for being
the vehicle to make it all possible.
John and Cora C. (NH)
Dear Ms. Turner
It was a pleasure to receive your letter of introduction to ___. We spoke
briefly on the phone and I wrote. . .Having been a single parent and self-employed
as well as 39 years of age, I could no longer be classified as demure..
. Nevertheless as some feedback for your organization, I would like to thank
you for this recent opportunity through an introduction. It is unbelievably
difficult to meet adults (especially opposite sex potential friends) if
one is not interested in "bar scenes". There is great concern
for the single parent about one's own actions serving as a role model and
bringing honorable individuals into contact with one's children. This surprise
letter from you reminded me that I am not yet willing to close the arena
of male/female interaction in my life. Thank you for allowing me a moment
of fantasy and old feelings to surface.
Sincerely, B.P. (01/92)
Dear Singles Scene,
This is to tell you that we first wrote then called. Then he came down to
meet me. That was it. He never made it home till we were married. We married
June 19. We are so happy and do everything together. After we were married,
we went to Minnesota to meet his mom and the rest of his kids. He sold his
home and came here to live with me. We are so happy with each other. No
more lonesome days and nights.

Dear Singles Scene,
A gentleman I met a year ago through your club became a very good friend,
and even though we were limited to phone, video movies and tapes, we became
very special friends. He became very ill last fall and passed away Jan.
29, l993, and I thank God I was allowed to have him in my life.
You are a very special lady, Mrs. Turner and I'd like to thank you.
Pat P. (WA) (2/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
Please remove my mail box message, but continue my subscription. I will
give the magazine to a friend. God has put a special Christian man in my
life and I praise His Holy name. Thanks for your action in this matter and
thanks for what you're doing in seeking to help people to find someone special.
F13847 (2/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
My name is Wendy. I've been wanting to tell you that I have met someone
very special through your publication. His name is Blake. He's so sweet
and we will be meeting in person for the first time Christmas. We talk to
each other of the phone every Sunday night for an hour. I'm very, very happy.
He has invited me to come out to California next summer for a few weeks.
I just want to say thank you.
Wendy (IL) (2/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
In December 1990 my one time only ad was in the issue you gave to a very
fine gentleman. He chose me from all the women in that paper.
I put a stop to other correspondence once I got his letter. I am happy to
let you know that after corresponding and phone calls and visits we were
married June 14 in Greensboro, North Carolina. I'm from South Bend, Indiana.
God brought us together and put us together in such a miraculous way. That's
nearly 1,000 miles that was between us. We are so glad that we left our
situation in God's hands. He worked a miracle for us. I was F11177. Now
that I'm married, thanks to your paper being the bridge that God used to
bring us together, I want to help others as I was helped through your paper.
God bless you all.
F. (IN) (3/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I have met several most wonderful ladies from your paper. During 1993 one
will be my new wife. I no longer read the paper.

Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you for the nice job you did on my Jan./Feb. ad. Your ministry is
a much needed service. I'm already writing one really neat guy. I'm a lot
less lonely now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don't wish to
put in another ad right now. Thanks again.
J. (OH) (3/93)
Dear Sandra,
I am a former subscriber to Singles Scene. I first subscribed in the fall
of l991.
I am writing to tell you that I met the most wonderful lady through your
magazine. She is from California and she wrote me in January this year.
I was hesitant at first because I live in Kentucky. But something about
her made me want to try and correspond. I am so glad that I did because
she has been everything I could have hoped for. She came and visited me
in September and we had a great time together. I am planning to visit her
at Christmas time, which will be the first time I have flown in a plane.
I just wanted to thank you for bringing us together and hope that if it
is God'swill, we can be together the rest of our lives.
S.M. (12/92)
Dear Singles Scene,
Please remove my ad from your magazine. I have met an extremely wonderful
lady through my ad! She lives just across the river from me in Indiana.
The service you provide to Christian singles is wonderful! Thank you for
your help and may the good Lord continue to bless your work.
R.L. (KY) (12/92)
Dear Sandra,
. . . I want to tell you that you are such a gifted writer and I enjoy and
appreciate your articles so much. You have a way of relating directly to
your audience and so clearly and simply getting your message across. Keep
up the excellent work. . .

Dear Sandra,
You're doing a great job. Thanks for your concern and Christian service.
I appreciate Singles Scene. It provides an opportunity and an outlet for
singles to meet and get better acquainted through mail correspondence.
I've found such an outpouring of concern in Christ from many of these single
women. God has overwhelmingly, tremendously blessed me through Singles Scene.
They all eventually, after the first initial contact (that's the most crucial
due to the uncertainties), fall in love. But it's not me they fall in love
with, it's rather the Christian spirit they love.
I'm here, Sandra, like you to help singles discover ways they can (through
a Christ centered,Godly guidance) learn to help themselves. That's really
what Singles Scene does, help singles (in Christ) learn ways and discover
avenues of life where they can help themselves, through a better and closer
understanding of who God is and what He's about.
Your thoughtful and often timely articles that grace the pages certainly
help. Many of my correspondents have told me this.. .
It must be a good feeling knowing that what you do enhances the "who"
in Christ you are. Continued success and joy as you share through Singles
Scene.
Rod (04/92)
Dear Sandra,
We wish to thank Singles Scene and you again for bringing Vic and I together.
His ad was in the August 1989 issue. I wrote to him and he answered with
a phone call. Then wrote immediately He lived in Minnesota and I in Florida.
We wrote back and forth and called each other once a month for two years.
Finally in October of 1991 we met. Then we flew back and forth for a year
before he asked me to marry him on Valentine's Day 1992. We were married
the 28th of November 1992.
God has been good to us and blessed us greatly. Our love is still growing.
Love and marriage in the golden years does work and much happiness can be
found and shared. No one should live alone as they grow old and be lonely.
Thank God for sending your ad my way and that I subscribed.
Now I want you to send a single issue to my daughter who is divorced. She
needs to find that special someone to make her life complete.
F11647 (FL) (04/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
Just a word to thank you for your service and the Lord's Spirit. My number
was F13538 as placed in your paper. The Lord is very much first place in
my heart and life and I couldn't have accepted anyone who wasn't the same.
I met a man from Ohio and we were married Oct. 16th. He is very much into
God's Word and we knew it was God's will for us to be married almost immediately.
We are very happy and know the Lord has a special ministry for us. I just
wanted to encourage anyone who is praying and believing for their mate.
God has a perfect timetable. I have been alone 14 years, met a lot of so
called Christians. It can be discouraging at times. but we have to keep
our focus on Jesus the provider, not His provision.
My husband had an ad. But he responded to my ad. It was a lot of change,
with moving and job changes, but the Lord does equip us readily when it
is His will. God bless you for all your endeavors for the singles. There
isn't a whole lot of outreach for singles, sad to say, even through our
churches. So God bless you and yours.

Dear Sandra,
Hi! Just wanted to let you know I have found my Mr. Right through the Personal
Introduction Service. He is in Arizona and I will be moving there soon.
I just wanted to thank you very much.
I have gotten a lot of photos and letters and phone calls. But there is
only one for me.
Thanks again and God bless you.
L.B. (KY) (04/94)
Dear Personal Search,
I decided to drop you folks a line and let you know that God does work in
marvelous ways. My name is J. and I first got your company's address from
Mother Earth News magazine. The magazine was a gift subscription from a
friend at work (he's going to be best man at my wedding). Kinda fits in
considering he was actually responsible for getting me and my fiance together.
My fiance was coaxed by a friend to join Personal Search also but didn't
expect any results. In fact, she had forgotten she'd joined any sort of
a group. We began corresponding in October 1992.
The distance thing is a disadvantage. She's a professor at a college in
Texas. I live in Idaho. We have found that meeting through the mail has
actually allowed us to get to know each other on a spiritual level rather
than the usual physical orientation. I really don't think I would have been
attracted to her had I just seen her somewhere - even in church. She put
it quite well once, "We're two kindred spirits that found one another."
Now we're planning our wedding. By the way if you have any idea how to move
someone about 1800 miles, please let me know. We're trying to plan everything
as economically as possible. We are both thankful to you for your assistance
- I feel joining your club was an investment in our future.
This is quite a God send. We have the same spiritual, moral, and societal
values and enjoy many of the same interests and hobbies.
Thank you again.
J.N. (ID) (04/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thanks a lot for your paper. I have met a lady in Georgia. When we first
met we knew that we were in love. So I will not need your paper any more.
Thanks a million. I know God had a hand in this from the very first.
W.D. (MO) (05/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
My ad was first published in September of 1992 and the response was wonderful.
I met and corresponded with numerous, very nice ladies. In late February
1993, I received a letter from a lady in Texas that really moved me. In
her letter she described what she needed and desired and what she was willing
to give to make a relationship successful and rewarding for both of us.
Her values and mine were totally in "sync". She and I had each
been praying for the perfect relationship; one that would be a total commitment.
Needless to say, we are both thanking God for answered prayer.
Please consider this letter as my request to discontinue publishing my ad
effective immediately.
I certainly plan to acknowledge all responses to my ad, but I am convinced
that I have found my "special lady" and only want to devote all
my available time to nurturing this relationship into long term commitment.
May God continue to bless and prosper you for providing this valuable service.
JWC (CO) (05/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Please remove M--- from your mailing list because, thanks to your kindly
sending me your free introductory issues, he is now mine! The Lord has blessed
us with a love and compassion that has spanned the 2000 miles between us.
After corresponding for awhile, we finally met earlier this month and are
getting married in two weeks.
It takes a very special man to unconditionally love a woman and her children
and he is truly a very special man.
Thank you for your wonderful service. I have passed your name and issues
on to other special people.
L.B. (TX) (05/93)
Many thanks to Sandra Turner who seems to have a direct line from God into
my life and has changed many bad indecisions into the right and Christian
decisions, has helped me to turn my anger into love, sadness to happiness,
low self esteem to pride, despair to hope. May God guide her to help me
this coming year through scripture and her love. May He grant her many blessings.
Many thanks from me in Christian love.
H.M. (ID)(05/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I do not need to renew my subscription to Singles Scene as I have found
the man I want to marry through your magazine.
He's from Tennessee and only received one copy of your magazine. We wrote
and called each other for about 8 months, then got together and fell we
are exactly right for each other. Thanks a million. Keep up the good work.
V.C. and G.K. (05/93)
Dear editor
Thank you so much for sending me the March/April issue. The front page article
is excellent! Keep up the great, uplifting, Word of Faith type articles.
I sense an anointing on them. We're of kindred spirits! You didn't by any
chance attend Rhema Bible Training Center did you? If not, you've been taught
well somewhere else. I did.
I pray that somehow you can find some single, Spirit-filled, Word men that
are in, or desire to be in full-time ministry. Are all the good ones married?
Come forth Word men!
Being an ordained lady minister who's very tall and over 50 and no beauty
makes it very challenging for me to find a ministry help mate. Nothing is
too hard for our God, though. . .
I intercede for you and your needed outreach. . . J.L.S. (OR) (05/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Please remove my name from your mailing list. I have met a wonderful, young
lady from Missouri and I'm sure we will become man and wife in a year or
so. You provide a needed service for Christian singles.
J.W.H. (KY) (05/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I am writing to thank you very much for your services in the personal ads
that I placed to find a love of my life. My ad was F12694 from New Jersey!
I've been answered by a very nice gentleman through many correspondence
letters and photos. And now living close together in the same city. We are
very happy with many interests and all thanks to your singles new letter.
Once again I thank you and may God bless everyone on your staff for my new
happiness.
J.V. (NJ) 05/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
My name is Marsha and my fiance and I would like to write and let everyone
know what a wonderful job Singles Scene has done for us.
We met through Singles Scene in March 1991 and were basically friends until
last year. I knew that God had D. and I writing for some reason, but as
we got to know each other. Our love for each other grew more and more. So
now we have fallen in love and are planning to get married May 28, 1994.
We will be living in Idaho. Please remove our names from the list.
M.M. (TN) (5/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for helping me find the perfect
mate. I never really believed that marriages were made in heaven, but I
do now. So I really want to encourage others not to give up because I know
you all must also pray for your subscribers because there's no other way
I could have found this special lady, especially since she lives in the
Philippines.
We are both Spirit-filled Christians, and although I wrote many other ladies,
I knew after six months that this lady, Geraldine A., was the one I was
to marry.
We also fell in love so much that I even became a poet and not only wrote
her poetry, but I began being inspired to write inspirational poetry as
well - which has been published in our local newspaper. Enclosed is a sample
which you may print if you like. So thanks also for unlocking a hidden talent.
We are planning our wedding in July so you can take us off your mailing
list. May God bless all of you.
Ivan Hurley
To my beloved
Oh that my ears could hear and my eyes could only see.
The wonder of you, God's creation for me.
The message is clear and the path is so bright,
We as two stars shall walk in the night.
That we may soon hear, that we may soon see
God's glorious plan for you and for me.
What shall we say other than this. . .
Not our will be done, but it is to be His.
Multitudes in the valley of decision each day
Not knowing God and His own perfect way.
Each must soon hear, each must soon see
That God's plan of salvation is perfect and free.
A sacrifice was needed to atone for our sin
And He sent His Son Jesus, the victory to win
Enduring such shame and bearing much pain,
Once dyinfg for all and rising again.
To open the way for all to receive
An eternity of peace to all who believe.
Safe from all wrath, of judgement, and fear,
His love He will show if to His heart we draw near.

Dear Singles Scene,
I just wanted to write and say your Christian Singles Scene really does
work. I met the most wonderful man through your ads. My prayers have been
answered. There really is a God and He listens. We met in June of this year
and will soon be married. I couldn't be happier. I want to thank you. Also
you are on our prayer list. If it wasn't for your publication, we would
never have met. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. I hope everyone
of your advertisers can be as happy as we are. God works miracles.
J.S. (VA) (08/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I'm writing to ask to you to please remove my personal ad from your publication
for the good reason that I've met a real nice sister in the Lord only a
few miles from my residence here in Maine. We are compatible, praise God,
and are having nice dates and are moving slowly to a stronger relationship.
I will contact you when this relationship develops fully.
I really appreciate the solid Christian values and articles founded on the
Word of God that you include in your publication.
Your brother in Christ,
K.H. (08/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you for your work and your love for Christian singles. Your magazine
is so spiritual. Thank you again. God bless you deeply. With my love for
you all.
D.W. (Burlington, CO) (08/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thanks for sending me the magazine. I hope to be able to subscribe to Singles
Scene soon. Your article, "Is something taking His place?" really
blessed me. Your magazine is the best one I have ever received for single
people. God bless you and I know He will
DLP (AR) (08/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
No. Do not renew my subscription. I don't need it. Thanks to God and your
ads. I met my wife. The Lord answers prayer always. Just wanted you to know.
Thanks again. God bless you.
C.W. (M9947) (08/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you so much for your wonderful publication. I have really enjoyed
the two copies I have received. As so as I can I will be subscribing to
the Singles Scene. I also find your articles very uplifting. Please keep
up the wonderful work. We single Christians really need you.
C. W. (PA) (9/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you so much for sending me two free sample copies of your magazine.
I do not at this time, feel led to place an ad. But I will definitely keep
the two issues and the other information you have sent me. I'm glad to know
there is a magazine like this which enables nice Christian people to correspond
with each other.. . Thanks for the wonderful service you are providing Christian
singles.
N.T. (9/94)
Dear Singles Scene,
My one-time ad in Singles Scene brought more than a half dozen letters,
but only one voice mailbox call. That was enough, however.
S. . and I have had a telephone romance going all year and we will be meeting
for the first time within a month. We've gotten to know each other very
well, even had two or three spats over the phone. When I realized the problem
we discussed it and have not had any trouble since. Our cultural backgrounds
are very different, and we were misunderstanding some things. Now if something
doesn't sound right we ask, "What do you mean?" or ask, "Why?"
We have talked about literally everything, but both agree we cannot make
any commitments over the phone. There are four or five areas we have to
discuss in depth and in person. I feel 99.9% sure we will be married soon,
but we each want the option of saying, "I don't want to spend the rest
of my life with you."
We are both in our 60's, just 14 months apart in age. We seem to have a
great deal in common, both interested in eating right, good health, etc.
. .
I have told a lot of people about Singles Scene and highly recommend it.
I was in another dating service earlier which was much more expensive. Also
participated in voice mail box matches in the local paper. Their ads were
free, but neither of these service can hold a candle to Singles Scene. I
realize that one has to be extremely careful, no matter what. You can't
vouch for your advertisers telling the truth.
. . . Thank you for all you have done for me. May God continue to bless
your service/ministry.
A. (FL) (10/93)
Dear Singles Scene and Personal Search,
I was a member of Personal Search in 1992. I did find that special person
from your lists. I asked E.M. to marry me on May 16, 1993 and we'll be married
in July or August next year. Relatives around me say that a long distance
relationship can't work. I disagree. We're proof so far. The main advantage
is that you begin to know the person from a position other than physical.
I'm really not sure I would have pursued this relationship at all had I
seen Mary Ellen in person. I think physical appearance can turn us off initially
and we don't give the situation a second chance. The first impression is
the one which stays with us. Because I've had such luck please send information
to my friend.
J.N. (ID) (10/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you for sending me the magazine. I'm praying God will answer my prayers
through your wonderful publication. I've tried other clubs and they all
were a big disappointment. I hope to be able to subscribe to Singles Scene
real soon. God bless and keep you.
J.A. (CA) (10/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I secured your address from my daughter in law's sister who had been corresponding
with some of your members. She met a very nice Christian man through your
organization and they have since been married. I realize she is 20 years
my junior but I am interested in knowing if you have letters from seniors
in my age group who are looking for someone to correspond with. . .
Z. L. (NV) (10/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I feel you people have become my friends. Thanks for the work you're doing.
I know God is blessing you. I can tell by your articles.
Well, I'm still trying to find that someone. My hometown is so small. I
was married a long time to a C/W musician. My heart was broken when he wanted
a divorce to marry a younger woman. . .
I've only dated once in five years. We met through Singles Scene, so I'm
relying on you to help me find that someone. . .
I have a ministry but need someone to share it with. . .
I know God has someone for each of us, no matter our age. Again I say thanks
for helping lonely people. So many seem to have forgotten us.
May God bless you richly.
M.R. (OK) (11/92)
Dear Singles Scene,
Thank you very much for answering my letter and sending me a free sample
of your magazine. I must say, I have never seen a magazine for singles like
it. I mean besides having ads for singles, it also has interesting articles
and facts. It's just fantastic!
When I got my sample I couldn't believe it. I was looking for a magazine
that would cost a lot to subscribe to, and would be just on singles but
your magazine is interesting and fascinating to read, not boring.
N.S. (MD) (12/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I was a former subscriber. Then I met the most wonderful man through Personal
Search. We were married in March 91. He died on July 27, l992. We only had
16 months together. We loved each other very much and were so happy. I think
your services are a very good way to meet other singles. Keep up the good
work.
Z.J. (WV) (12/93)
Dear Singles Scene,
I should have written this letter long ago. E.H. or Fort Worth, and I met
through Singles Scene in November 1992. Were were both happy that God used
your publication to bring us together. It has been a very busy time for
both of us. We have closed two homes and opened one. There has been a lot
of moving going on. You were probably wondering why we did not renew our
subscriptions. Now you know. Thank you very much.
