RIKI RACHTMAN REPORT

Sup!! the last part of March has been very chaotic. Unfortunately with all the new projects that are about to begin in April I had little time for this newsletter. In the May newsletter we will continue with our reports from Puckass as well as music reviews, letters and a special summer movie preview from Flickhead. There will be a section chocked full of the questions you want to know and of course we will bring ya up to date with the Cathouse, Bordello and future Triple R happenings . We will also have a new layout with pictures and everything. Yup it will look really nice. However in the meantime you will just have to deal with my very limited computer skills and this short and not too slick report. Oh yeah but May will look really sweeet.

Outlaw Karaoke

On Thursday March 12 The building formerly known as Billboard Live had a prior engagement so there would be no Cathouse. We had to think fast. The folks that had now been programmed to get out of the house on Thurs. night had no place to go. We founds a little spot on Sunset called Union. We decided at the last minute to get all our friends from Riki Rachtman Radio back together for a little karaoke. Yes kids Karaoke. The night didn't get off to a great start when the entire sound system blew up 20 minutes before the doors opened. The problem was corrected but needless to say the owners of Union were not too pleased. At around 11:00 there were about 150 people there. What I was unaware of was that neighbors had complained and the Union staff had started turning people away. For those of you that were turned away I apologize. The situation happened without my knowledge. For those of you that did get in. Here are a couple songs that stood out. The formerly timid artist known as Puckass performed "You give love a bad name". Sanchez busted out with a little Johnny Cash. I ,Riki, did the worst Dean Martin anyone ever heard. I believe the 2 standouts were Chim Chim’s beautiful rendition of "The greatest love of all". What was my personal favorite? well it had to be Matt Flickhead Kennedy’s very dramatic "America" which was originally done by Neil Diamond. Mr Flick displayed the emotion and intensity of a superstar. The crowd was on there feet singing along. It was a moment it was. breathtaking, it was awe inspiring. It was, it was. it was a hell of a lot better than my Dean Martin. Who knows maybe we will do another Kareoke night again. Who knows maybe I’ll jam a bicycle spoke into my eyeball.........

Cathouse

In March we were forced to be closed for 2 nights but the 2 nights we were open were great. CIRCUS OF POWER played the first show they had played in 5 years. They had only rehearsed a couple of times for this 1 time CATHOUSE show. You couldn't tell. They were awesome. I am currently trying to convinince them in another show and a possible CATHOUSE festival in Vega$!!! We also had chick night with local faves TAIL and Betty Blowtorch. BB had members of Butt Trumpet in there lineup and not only had great men hating rack songs but there live performance included . Fire spewing cheerleaders and a scantly clad vixen that ate, fondled and carressed fire. Hot hot Hot......... We now can proudly say that with the success of the CATHOUSE we will be there every Thurs. So even if you are not too sure who is playing show up. We guarantee a low , cool videos , a d.j. that plays only Rock and roll from T-Rex - Metallica to Kiss to Sweet to Rage. Ya also never know who you might see at the Cathouse. Motorhead, Kiss, Korn, Sugar Ray, White Zombie, Danzig the list goes on. Show up enjoy. Here is a taste of whats coming up. This Thurs. Bang Tango- This will be a special show . Bang Tango will be recording a live album and be filming this show for an upcoming video. Doors open @ 10 and the cover is only 9 bucks. 4/16- Very rarely have we let unsigned bands play live at the Cathouse. We liked Space Age Playboys so much we gave them a shot. I personally feel that they are one of the best live bands to play the clubs. Many of you agree. Kory Clarke former singer of Warrior Soul fronts Space Age Playboys. Catch them again with the Los Angeles debut of Island. Hmmm In order to complete the circle I guess I 5t was only a matter of time before I ended up back on MTV.Yup I am about to do a quick hop back to NYC to make my return to MTV. I will appear on 12 angry Viewers from April 13- 18 from 5:30-6:00 pm. I will also be hosting a special 4 hour show LIVE from Time Square. There is a possibility of more shows that week. The Story: Sorry everybody......The RRR is no more. I know!! that is pretty MESSED UP isn't it?? As of 9/8/97(our shitty first day back at school, I might add). Riki showed up at the station looking for Steckler. When he found him and Colcocked him in the face three (3) times!!!!!! yeah!! take that Bitch!!!!! The RRR Team was FIRED from 97.1 when Riki Returned from Jail later that day. I beleive disciplinary  action should have been taken against Riki.......but not this severe. As  for Grandpa(Steckler).......that is what happens when you play with fire.  But never fear Team members!! Riki and the gang will be back in action!!! soon I hope.
