This Memorial Is Dedicated To The Memory Of Those Officers Who Died In The Line Of  Duty.

Let It Serve To Remind Us Of The Sacrifice These Officers Made On Their "Last Watch".

Your Presence Renders A Personal Tribute To Their Courage And Duty.

Edwin R. Jensen - On February 28, 1931 at 1915 hours, Motor Officer Edwin R. Jensen, was chasing a speeding vehicle on East First St.  At the Santa Fe Railroad tracks, Officer Jensen's motorcycle struck an object in the street.  He lost control and crashed into a lamppost.  Officer Jensen sustained head injuries and died on March 3, 1931.

Nelson A. Sasscer - On June 4, 1969 at 2342 hours, Officer Nelson A. Sasscer  "Rookie of the Year" 1968, began his shift.  At the corner of Third and Raitt, he contacted several subjects.  One subject shot Officer Sasscer point blank, leaving him to die in the street.  The suspect, a Black Panther, was apprehended by the FBI.  Officer Sasscer died the same night.

Daniel A. Hale - On November 12, 1977 at 2036 hours, Officer Dan Hale responded to a burglary in progress at 517 S. Western.  Officer Hale entered the residence and was shot and killed.  Both suspects died in a gun battle.  Officer Hale, a former Berkeley and B.A.R.T. police officer, is survived by his wife and two daughters and a son.

Joseph S. Boyd - Civilian Range Master for The Santa Ana Police, was killed on duty, January 28, 1998.  For a link to a site giving a dedication to him… please click here: BOYD
