Transferring in 3 seconds to the Kristin Hammond's OWN WEBSITE!

This page was created so that a few engineering students could share the benefits of their efforts with the rest of the world. The plans presented here were designed and developed in 1997 by an informal group of electrical engineering students working in their free time. The information is free and is provided primarily as a service to Cub Scout Packs who have grown tired of running races under the problematic double-elimination format.

Although this timer design was optimized for two-lane operation, it is sufficiently modular to easily allow for expansion. Detailed schematics, pinouts, and a parts list are all provided, along with a brief explanation of the circuit's operation. It is assumed that the reader has a basic understanding of electronics and can interpret a schematic diagram.

DISCLAIMER:
Although the race timer circuit described in these documents has been tested under a variety of conditions, it is impossible to forsee and test under all possible circumstances to which the circuit may be subjected. Furthermore, many performance aspects are directly linked to the physical layout of the components and the method of connection and enclosure. Therefore, these plans are provided as-is, without any type of warranty whatsoever. The user assumes all risks and liabilities incurred from the use or inability to use the circuit described herein.

In other words... You built it, not us!
