Welcome to the Southern Tier Authors of Romance (STAR). STAR was founded in 1993 to provide an encouraging environment for local romance authors to develop their writing skills and exchange information about writing and the publishing industry. In 1994, it became affiliated with the national writers' organization Romance Writers of America.
STAR draws its members from Broome, Chemung, Tioga and Tompkins counties in New York. The chapter meets once a month, and also sponsors special events such as our annual writers' retreat. And be sure to check out our schedule of online workshops for 2008, which are open to the general public.
