Born in Harrisburg, PA, Mr. Borocz's musical education began with piano lessons in the third grade from the "music sister" in his local Catholic elementary school. During high school, he studied organ at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA; then, while earning his B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Scranton, he minored in music at Marywood University in that same city. Arriving on the Washington scene, he studied at both the Catholic University of America, earning an M.A. in Theology, and the University of Maryland/College Park. The last academic institute to put up with him was The Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, in Rome, Italy. While in Rome, he served as music director for the Primatial Basilica of Sant' Anselmo. Music director for St. Matthew's UMC since September 1991, Mr. Borocz regrets he took so long to find his niche in Bowie.
