Strumi's Project : Mustang II N312WS

The start "building the Mustang II" by Walter Strumienski, was in April 1999.

The decision to build an airplane, was in January 1999. To order the kit by
Mustang Aeronautics Inc., Troy, Michigan, was an easy way.
We got the M-II Drawing Set Serial #1990 in February 1999.
The first part for training was the 'Flap Kit'.
Then, middle of April, 1999, we got the 'Complete M II Kit'.
What a package?! That all will be an airplane?
Years ago I built airplanes, model-airplanes; and now?!
But, my wife and myself, we want to have an own airplane; build and own by myself!
As child, I dreamed to fly an airplane. I learned and maked the licence in 1986.
And now, I'm in the project to build and finish our "self- /handmade airplane".
My wife said, if this airplane fly, like it's look, you have to be proud.
I'll remember this words, during the first flight in the near future with our Mustang II - N312WS!

Thanks on this place:
- Chris Tieman, Mustang Aeronautics Inc., Troy, MI
- Michael Gal, Flight Instructor, Ft. Myers, Florida
- Paul Cox, Mustang II - Builder, Buckingham, Florida
- Bruce Skaggs, Pilot, Buckingham, Florida
- Don Caskey, Mustang II - Bilder, Buckingham, Florida (he started in 2000)
- Hans Hitl, neighbour in Cape Coral, Florida

We get so many friends, all joined through this project; thanks to all!

Now, it was time!
On January, 04. 2002, Ronald D. Conn, DARF from Orlando, FL, was our "Final Inspector".
We receive the

Special Airworthiness Certificate

also with the words : - High Quality Airplane !
Walter has to be proud!
and I’m (Christel) very lucky about this perfect, smart and wonderful husband !
Thank You!

Let’s hope the 1. Flight is soon !

What a start of the New Year 2002!
Longer discuss with insurance company, but all is on the right way now!
On Sunday, January 20. Michael Gal and Walter was on the Charlotte County airport (PGD)
to do some speed taxi, to see how the airplane runs.
Both together are not "lightweight" persons. After some speed taxi it's not easy to bring up the tailwheel.
The airplane was full fuel and with both "bodyguards". Walter checked the engine again. Mike was alone in the Mustang and taxi to runway 27.
After some speed taxi, he was faster in the air, like he believed. Walter watched him, crys 'this is my airplane, what flys first time; I built this; I don't believe this".
20 min. later, Mike came back, came out from the airplane and looked very happy.
His words about his 1. Flight:
"It flew great. I leveled off on the downwind for 27 at PGD and with 2400 RPM I had an indicated airspeed of 210 MPH.
With the power set at about 2100 RPM I had an indicated airspeed of 160 MPH. It is definetly fast!! It fly's nice and steady and feels real solid.
It was really easy to keep the turns coordinated. Walter did an absolutely superb job!"
Walter controlled the engine on monday again; all looks good!
He went out to do some speed taxi by himself. The second taxi was so fast, he wants to go in the air!
Walter did some maneuver and after 1 hour he wants go down. His landing was perfect and he feeled great!
He flow his airplane first time; all builder who ever built an airplane, know what this feeling!
Now he has a break; starting testflight again in march. Hopefully be ready fly to Lakeland!?
