I. "FRIENDLY VISITOR" PROGRAM
- The "Friendly Visitor" program of the Senior Center arranges visitors for Sudbury senior citizens who would welcome a visitor on a periodic basis.
- The volunteer visitors are carefully screened and trained by the Sudbury Senior Center staff.
- The Senior Center "Friendly Visitor" program operates as follows:
- Each "Friendly Visitor" tries to visit his/her host(s) once per week, weather permitting;
- The intent of the program is to have the same "Visitor" call upon his/her host(s) each week so that an ongoing "Friendly" relationship can be established;
- Most "Friendly Visitors" are fellow Sudbury senior citizens;
- The goal of the "Friendly Visitor" program is to provide conversation and company for the people being visited;
- This service is FREE.
- Obviously, enrollment in this program is necessary.
- If you are a Sudbury senior citizen and if this program is of interest to you, then please call the Senior Center to request a "Friendly Visitor".
- The Senior Center is grateful to the Sudbury Foundation for a grant to establish the "Friendly Visitor" program.
- Please note that the "Friendly Visitors" are just that and probably have no detailed knowledge of other programs run by the Senior Center that may be of value to the people being visited.
- Several other Senior Center programs provide valuable services to likely clients of the "Friendly Visitor" program.
- For example, the Senior Center runs a free "Keep in Touch" program in cooperation with the Sudbury Fire Department in which volunteers make a brief daily telephone call to interested Sudbury senior citizens to check on their well-being (and to cause a rapid visit by emergency personnel if no contact can be made).
- The "Keep in Touch" program is of special value to homebound senior citizens who do not have family members who live nearby.
- For information about this program click "Keep in Touch" .
- Please call the Senior Center and/or examine this web site re: other valuable Senior Center programs.
