BACKGROUND:

Sugarthorn has undergone different names and member changes over the last 3 years, but

James Seney and Steve Hawryluk have been the backbone supporting Sugarthorn’s evolution

all along the way. Sergio Pedro joined in March ‘98 (we took away the guitar he played for 14

years and converted him to bass) and James “Mack” MacCormick came aboard one year later.

MEMBERS:

James Seney                  Lead Vox / Guitar

Steve Hawryluk             Percussion / backing Vox

Sergio Pedro                  Bass / Backing Vox

Mack MacCormick       Lead Guitar

WHAT DO WE SOUND LIKE?

We’re definitely a rock band, but our influences are a potpourri of 60’s British groups,

70’s rock gods, punk, metal, southern rock and grunge.  All of those influences adds up

to one thing - playing music we like. If the fans dig it, that’s a nice bonus too.

COOL STUFF WE’VE DONE:

Tune included on Buffalo Music Collective Compilation CD (1998), showcase

concert and exhibition table at Western NY Music Festival (1997), played local

Buffalo venues and out of town gigs over the past three years.

GOALS:

Finish our CD by the end of this summer!

Play loud, melodic, energy driven rock music to anyone cool enough to like it!

Become famous, rich, and obnoxious in a charming self deprecating way.

INSIDER INFO: (for those of you who didn't click on our faces earlier)

WHO?                WHAT?                 WHY?

James Seney            Vox / Guitar                 Still trying to get Jimmy Page’s guitar sound

James grew up singing 60’s and 70’s tunes around the campfire with his 9 older siblings -

everyone in James’ family sings - whoever is the loudest gets heard!   James says he didn’t

really learn to sing “like a hippo” until he took voice lessons from Diana Yampolsky

(Raine - Our Lady Peace) in Toronto.  Part American Indian and born on the Fourth of July

James likes cool shirts, breaking guitar strings, and has more energy than Dennis the menace.

Steve Hawryluk       Drums / Vox              Learning to play “sloppy rock” perfectly

Steve has been playing drums since he was a 7 year old Ukranian suburbanite punk. He is a

Percussion Performance Minor who has taken lessons from Tony Miranda (International studio

musician who as recorded with Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, etc...). Steve likes to incorporate

different rythym styles (funk, latin, jazz...) to flavor up the mix and stays fresh by teaching private

lessons, High School Marching Bands, and helping with School productions.

Sergio Pedro             Bass / Vox               Paul McCartney + Gene Simmons / 2 =????

Serge hails from a small village on the west coast of Portugal and was raised on Long Island.

He came to the states at the tender age of 12 just in time to be corrupted by rock radio.

Serge’s first love was KISS, soon followed by other 70’s hair bands - Zeppelin, Floyd, Deep

Purple, and the 60’s british invasion. His hobbies include: Role-Playing, Philosophy, and Literature.

Sergio can speak Portugese, Spanish, French, and (he claims) English.

Mack MacCormick    Lead Guitar            Son of early metal and the peach truck blues

Mack was born in Kentucky and moved to a tough section of Ohio in his impressionable youth.

Equal parts Irish and Blackfoot Indian he learned to play guitar from his grandfather (who recorded

with Les Paul) and he has been playing guitar in bar bands since he was 11. Mack’s last band

“Dimestore” warmed up for many national acts around the Ohio area including: Blackfoot, Sacred

Reich, Bullet Boys, Ratt, and Arcade.
