Topics For This Week:
Courage, Listen with your Heart, and How far does a Whisper travel on the Wind
HOW FAR
DO WHISPERS TRAVEL ON THE WIND?
©almezzina 4/22/02
How far do wind-blown whispers go
that carry words of love so true?
No limits, as you surely know
when words are meant only for you.
How long can whispers ride the breeze
to reach you anywhere you are?
Across the mountains and the seas;
a million light-years to a star.
And should the winds and breezes cease
no matter, I will promise this
those loving thoughts I'll still release
and they'll arrive with a blown kiss.

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART
©almezzina 4/22/02
almezzina@aol.com
Experience has taught me well;
my data bank, at my age, full.
I must decide. How can I tell?
What button, push? What lever, pull?
I figure, tally, calculate
and measure; weigh the pro and con.
My mind's at work. I tabulate
what I will base decisions on.
Say yes or no! To stay or go?
Decision time; but in the end
the only way I truly know;
I listen to my heart, my friend.

COURAGE
©almezzina 6/12/00; revised 4/22/02
The faint of heart cannot come through
when called upon to give their due.
When trouble comes they look away
so they can run another day.
The macho man will rant and rave
until all know that he is brave;
but when emergencies appear
the man, somehow, is never near.
There also is the gutsy guy
who gets involved to do or die.
He's always "Johnny on the spot"
whether he's needed there or not.
But know the bravest one of all,
with action's far beyond the call,
who's heard, when rushing to one's aid,
to say, "Dear God, I am afraid".

Courage
Walkers, canes, braces, and wheelchairs
knee pains and headaches
does anyone care?
A semi circle
of hopeful faces
like good little children
all in their places
hoping to God this exercise
will help with their strength
their will to survive
tuck in your tummy, three four and five
kick one two, kick one two, I'm still alive
Hand me my walker
it's right over there
help me get up
off this god awful chair.
Faith in the teacher
means faith put in me
but I'm only human
what will be, will be
Stretch those fingers
one two and three
If they fall and don't make it
will they blame God or me?

A Whisper Upon The Wind
by STEVE: mahgninnuc@aol.com
My Love, she made a wish,
A whisper upon the wind,
For true love is what she wished,
Her broken heart to mend.
Her yearning plea transported,
By gentle, playful breeze,
T'would soon be well reported,
Throughout meadows and groves of trees.
Quick to join, were her wishes,
With the murmurings of the streams,
Soon all the beasts and fowl and fishes,
Were savvy to her dreams.
Then all the world did know,
Of her sorrow and her plight.
And wished her true love to her show,
But t'was no where within sight,
Until:
My self, I made a wish,
A whisper upon the wind,
For true love is what I wished,
My broken heart to mend.

IT TAKES COURAGE
It takes courage
to say good-bye
and I'm a coward.
I still cry.
I can't completely let go.
I don't know how.
I may go on
but not as far or deep.
Stripped to the bone,
you looked into my soul
and wouldn't let me lie.
I even got out of the
habit for a while.
But now you're gone
and never is just too long
to wrap my mind around.
Some way, some day,
I have to pray
that we will talk again.

CELESTIAL CB
How far does a whisper
travel on the wind?
As far as heaven
and back again?
Let me whisper
feverishly
on my knees,
attempting to send
and receive.
Breaker, breaker,
celestial CB,
need to be
plugged in
to the heavenly
frequency.
Ten four.

IF YOU'RE SO SMART
If you're so smart,
why can't you listen
with your heart?
Give logic a rest
and quit testing reason.
Hearts pump blood,
not money.
A good figure in red
isn't an oxymoron
so pour on some charm.
Slipping between
the sheets certainly beats
balancing them.

BELLIGERENCE
Why couldn't you
have listened
with your heart
to hear the cry
of a frightened child?
Scared of shadows
in unfamiliar corners,
angry and alone,
I lashed out
in unloving ways,
belligerence
born of fear and pain
pushing away
what I desperately
hoped to gain.

Courage
It takes a lot of heart to stand up
For what you believe is right -
To have the courage of your convictions
And fight for them with all your might.
It is easier for the faint hearted
To give up and acquiesce.
They find it hard to stay the course.
They cave in to duress.
We're thankful to our forefathers
Who fervently had a cause.
Their courage formed this great nation
With its Constitution and its laws.
It behooves us now as citizens
To protect the rights we did inherit.
With courage we can show the world
That we, too, are worthy of merit.

Whispering In The Wind
When you whisper sweet words in my ear,
Be careful for the wind might hear.
He will spread the words far and wide
To everyone all over the countryside.
Your words will travel to every town,
Up one street and then on down
Giving the gossipmongers plenty to say
As they delight in their heyday.
If you want the whole world to know,
Telling it to the wind is the way to go -
No faster method can be found
To get your secret all around.

TRAVELING ON THE WIND
It is a whisper traveling on the wind
One you whispered to my soul a long, long time ago
You ask how far can the winds take it, where has it been
Around the world and back to me again I know
Your whisper kept me going and helped me make my choice
To travel the roads I traveled on my way
To finally see your face and hear your voice
To find the soul that whispered come to me and stay
Oh my darling how far can your whisper travel on the wind
I tell you there is no limit, no matter where I am
The wind brings me your whispers time and time again
Giving me strength when I am tired and feel weak as a lamb
Your whispers will always be with me
On my pillow and into enternity
Like none before and none after can there be
I feel your love deep within, a love that sets me free

COURAGE
Through my tears and shaking, I was so afraid
But finally I made a stand, then turned and walked away
Not knowing what he would do as I left, but my choice was made
For I knew only too well what he would do if I stayed
Life was too short to throw it away because of promises he made
Promises long since abandoned, replaced by the mind games he played
And though he begged and pleaded, I knew that look in his eye
From my tears and trembling came the courage to survive

LISTEN WITH YOUR HEART
Listen with your heart, resounding with each beat
Listen deep inside of you to the wonders laid at your feet
Listen to your baby's voice, the first word that she speaks
Listen to the gentle breathing as you lay her down to sleep
Listen with your heart I say don't ever stray too far
Listen with everything that is you and wish upon a star
Listen close and say a prayer as you tiptoe out, the door ajar
Listen with your heart and pray right now, right where you are
Don't take your child for granted and remember she is only on loan
Entrusted to you to love and provide, protect and make a home
Do the best you can I say and she will never leave you alone
She'll be your friend and by your side until you are called
back to His home.

Courage
When on the horizon danger appears,
Fight or Flee are the two going options .
Courage is flouted with such great respect,
but response is based on more than mere gumption.
So when I see somebody flee,
Like a bat out of hell being chased by a bee,
I hesitate to make any hasty assumptions.
Courage is not all that you may have heard,
but without it you are deemed a real coward.
Only a fool underestimates fear or calls it absurd,
for the wise know it holds awesome power.
Sometimes when I find myself weak in the knees,
trembling from my head to my toe.
All I can manage is to try the panic to appease,
and not flee like a shy frantic doe.
But sometimes I stand up so bravely and bold,
and face headlong what e'er comes my way.
Staring them right in the eyes, I let hist'ry unfold,
and feel so proud when I don't run away!

Listen With Your Heart
for my dear son Shaughn
When you are faced with a dilemma,
or have a question with no answer,
advice can be found in vast abundance,
from each preacher, poet, and romancer.
This may not vanquish the dilemma ,
'cause each will tell a different story,
so when its time to make a judgement ,
you may not want to rely on judge or jury.
Just listen to your heart my son.
Search it deep when you need a clue.
Rely on your own inherent goodness,
and try to remember what I've taught you .

Listen With Your Heart - Again
You can seek the words of nobles,
and court the wisdom of the sages.
But all is naught if you close your eyes,
to what your heart holds in its pages.
Our hearts can bring us pleasure.
They can also bring us pain.
But if we stick closely to our morals,
health and happiness can be our gain.
So when your heart moves you to action,
never hesitate in shame.
If you listen to its message,
You will find fortune with your fame.
Listen to your heart my son,
for I know I taught you well.
If you trust you heart, you' ll find your way,
and your life will turn out swell.

How Far Does A Whisper Travel On The Wind ?
Quiet . . . . . .
Listen. . . . . .
Only silence can bring you the answer.
The whispers that ride on on the back of the wind,
have a message only dreamers can hear.
They prance proudly ahead towards the future,
but gallop away at first loud vocalization .
So on a spring day when an soft zephyr appears
Hark . . . . . .
listen to what e'er you might hear
Hush . . . . .
don't let garrulous chatterings chase her away,
or you'll miss the beauty of her quiescent cheer.
Saddle up ! For the ride of your life lies ahead.
Put your arms out to embrace each promised endeavor.
For when mounted behind a warm westerly wind
you can transverse the whole wide world over.
So how far does a whisper travel on the wind?
Just as far as your imagination will take it!
So hold on to your dreams and life's little schemes,
and thus the light in your eyes will stay lit!

WHISPERS CAUGHT IN THE WIND
A whisper goes a long way
when wafted windward.
And despite its flimsy, filmy faintness,
can do much good, or considerable harm,
based upon the degree of love or venom
spewed at its outset.
Rumors are whispered conjectures
of whatever true or false origin,
and are capable of
spreading harm afar.
Conversely, whispers of love
can carry ardor, warmth, romance,
as they flit themselves tenderly
through their fanciful flight
from heart to waiting heart.

Whispers in the Wind
Can you hear me whisper
When I say I love you?
Do my words touch the stars
Do they sail on in the dew?
Does my lonely whisper
Travel through space?
Are you there to see
The tears upon my face?
The wind conveys a whisper.
Softly, softly the wind blows.
It carries my love to you,
How far it travels only the wind knows.
