THE SEASON

All Christians say God sent his son
to expiate man’s sins on earth.
Their joy passed on to every one
while celebrating His child’s birth.
It happens at this time of year
when most of us find time to smile
and uplift spirits with good cheer;
but only for a little while.
This seasonal phenomenon,
before we know it will have passed.
As it has come, it will have gone.
How can we make the season last?
No miracle need we create,
if we apply what we have learned
about our love; about our hate.
Whichever given is returned.

THE REASON
FOR THE SEASON
The Father looked down
upon his newborn son,
indescribable feelings
of love and fear at the fate
of this tiny babe;
pride and anguish mixed,
knowing the suffering
of that precious child
wrapped in innocence
and swaddling,
knowing the sacrifice,
knowing the reason
for the season
is His love.

Sing a song of Christmas,
A song of goodwill and cheer,
A song on everyone's lips
About this time of the year.
Sing a song of Christmas,
A song of Jesus' birth
In a lowly manger
As he came upon this earth.
Sing a song of the shepherds
Who tended their flocks that night.
When they saw the bright star
Were given a great fright.
Sing a song of the angels
In a chorus from up above
Heralding the Baby's birth
And singing of their love.
Sing a song of Christmas
Of Three Wise Men who came there
Bringing with them rare gifts
Of frankincense and myrrh.
Sing a song of Christmas.
Sing and raise your voices
With praise and adoration
As the world rejoices.
