The Myopic Magician
Intelligent, resourceful, an excellent martial artist as well as a practitioner of the arcane arts of dark magic, Mousse is an opponent to be reckoned with. However, his biggest weakness would be the fact that he can't see very well, even WITH his glasses on! But Mousse doesn't let his poor eyesight get in his way, for he's always got something up his sleeve... literally! Mousse had come to Japan in search of his childhood love Shampoo (though that love is not returned), but to his dismay finds that she's engaged to Ranma. And to make him even angrier, learns that Ranma is also engaged to Akane Tendo as well. Disgusted at Ranma's two-timing, Mousse challenges Ranma to a dual for Shampoo, but Cologne reminds him that she's already spoken for. So instead he challenges Ranma for Akane (I guess one girl is as good as another). Ranma had just one problem though, due to a pressure point technique called The Full Body Cat Tongue nerve put on him by Cologne, he is unable to stand heat at all! And this means that even the most tepid of water seems scolding hot to him, preventing him from being able to change into a guy! But that morning before school, the neighborhood physician Dr. Tofu had used another technique called The Old Man Tokyo Pressure Point on Ranma which allowed him to stand hot water once again. Unfortunately, before Dr. Tofu was able to warn him that the technique could only be used once, Ranma falls into a pond while sparring whit is father. So stuck as a girl again, Ranma had to figure out a way to fight Mousse in his girl form without anyone knowing his secret. Well, the day of the fight comes and many people have come to watch, though everyone wonders why Ranma hasn't shown up yet. When he finally arrives, Ranma is disguised under a similar outfit to Mousse's and surprisingly nobody can tell that he's a girl. So during the fight, Ranma uses a few magic tricks of his own, the finale being him turning himself into a girl! Actually, all he did was drop his costume to reveal his feminine body, though everyone simply believed that he was disguised as a girl! But Mousse is not amused and is quite insulted by the mockery, so furiously he goes all-out. At first it seemed that Ranma was sure to lose, especially since he kept forgetting that his arms and legs were shorter as a girl, thus making it harder for him to attack. However, when Mousse's glasses are accidentally broken during the fight, it seems that Ranma has now gained the upper-hand. As usual though, Mousse was prepared and uses a magnifying glass to see and sets the ring on fire... an act that proves especially bad for Ranma due to his condition that makes him hyper sensitive to heat! Finally, the two opponents leap into the air and Akane yells to Ranma to use the new attack that he learned. So in mid-air, Ranma uses the Chestnut Fist technique (a super fast punching attack that he learned from Cologne). Mousse is knocked unconscious and Ranma wins! But of course this isn't the last we've seen of Mousse. After leaving Japan, he returns to China to train at the Cursed Springs of Jusenkyo where he accidentally walks into the Spring of Drowned Duck. Yep, Mousse joins the cursed club now that he is half duck, and wants to destroy Ranma even more! Sometime later at a neighborhood Chinese festival and circus, Akane has her stuffed pig that she bought kidnapped by someone calling himself "The Mysterious Masked Man." Oddly he seems to think that the plush pig is Akane, and gives her a circus ticket to deliver to Ranma if he wants to rescue her. Well, when Akane informs Ranma of this weird occurance, he heads over to the circus where they meet up with Shampoo who mysteriously received a circus ticket as well. And then The Mysterious Masked Man appears again, and surprise, surprise it's Mousse! After a closer look he finally realizes that he's kidnapped a stuffed pig, but by then Ranma, Akane, and Shampoo have gone into the circus tent. During the show a girl is needed from the audience, and Akane volunteers Ranma (he's a girl at the time of course). So Ranma's tied to a large wheel where a weird duck named Moo-Moo-chan starts throwing knives and bombs at him. Luckily Ranma escapes, and later both he and the duck get hold of some hot water. Thus it is revealed that Mousse was the duck all along. As revenge, Mousse attempts to splash Ranma with pails of water he collected from the Spring of Drowned Duck, but Ranma splashes Mousse instead, changing him back into a duck. But as usual, Mousse is just full of surprises, so as a duck he flies after Ranma while dropping water balloons filled with the cursed water! The chase leads through the festival, until Ranma is able to pin Mousse down. But later that evening, Mousse successfully abducts Akane and Ranma finds a flier advertising an act at the circus that will turn a girl into a duck! So of course Ranma races to the rescue. Meanwhile, in the center ring of the big-top, Akane is bound and gagged inside a tank below a huge faucet that is about to shower down the cursed spring water. But, just before the water touches her, Ranma stops the faucet just in time, though it turns out it was only plain tap water. Mousse was saving the real cursed water to use on Ranma, and with a large hose tries to wet Ranma and curse him to the same ducky fate. At the same time, Shampoo arrives and decides that it's a good chance to get rid of Akane, and with pails filled with the cursed water tries to wet Akane as well. After all the chaos, the fighting finally ends when Akane is splashed when Mousse's hose goes out of control. Ranma searches frantically for Akane, and finds a small female duck which he believes to be her. He rushes home with the duck, and when the rest of the family finds out, Ranma is almost forced into marrying the little quacker! But back at the circus, it turns out that Akane was only splashed with regular tap water. Mousse continues to pursue Shampoo, though she just rejects him coldly as usual. So feeling sorry for him, Akane encourages Mousse to challenge Ranma one more time, promising that this time he'll win.
The next day, Shampoo (sure that Mousse
would never be able to defeat
Ranma) However, there is a semi-happy ending for Mousse. Shampoo feels sorry for him and let's him work at The Cat Cafe. So Mousse stays in Japan, and relentlessly continues to pursue (unsuccessfully) his lovely Shampoo. And who know's, maybe the slightly nerdy Mousse may win Shampoo's heart someday, though he shouldn't hold his breath. Who ever heard of a cat and a duck getting together anyway?!
