Hi my name is Brutus and as of november 20th 1998 I turned eight years old .I have been here for five and a half years , cause I was an abandoned two and half year old puppy . So when I met these guys they held on to me for a while looking for my owners . And a week later my owner declined my existence . So then I under went exstensive cleaning , grooming , and training . Now I have grown up and anybody would love to have me . But I'll tell you I had to train these guys , cause the first night with them they fed me balony and hot dogs and man did I stink for days . CHOW CHOW

The Chow Chow ( also Chow ) breed of dog , of ancient Chinese origin . The chow chow is a compact and powerful dog whose characterictic apperance is one of scowling independance . Its coat is thick and coarse and has wide range of color ( mostly solid black , red or brown ) in color . It has a large head , carried high , deep set eyes , short muzzle ( snout ) accentuated by a ruff broad black nose , and a blue - black tongue . The chest is broad and deep ; and the tail curls over the back . The forlegs are straight and narrow while the hind are heavy and muscular . When full grown it is about 20 " tall and weighs 50 lbs. and more . The breed was introduced into England in 1780 and into the United States in 1890 .The Chow Chow originated in northern China as a work dog , hunting , herding , and pulling . It is now a popular pet and watchdog .
