The USS Dixie Reunion Association was organized as a non-profit social group.
The purpose of the Association is fourfold as follows:
1.Perpetuate and espouse with pride the camaraderie which developed from service to country as crew members aboard the USS Dixie, AD-14.
2.Develop and maintain a strong cohesive organization that will foster the spirit of good will among its membership.
3.Afford opportunities for enjoyment, companionship, recreation and involvement in reunions held in different cities throughout our great country.
4.Learn of the Dixie's achievements and the contributions throughout its forty two years of service.
The membership in the USS Dixie Reunion Association is limited to personnel who have served on the USS Dixie, AD-14 (regular member) or wives and children of deceased shipmates having served on board (associate member) during the period of its commission as a ship of the US Naval Fleet.
The governing body of the Association is the Executive Council of Hosts, comprised of members who previously have served as reunion hosts, and the presiding officers, elected by the membership.
The presiding officers of the Association are the Executive Host(elected at each reunion) and the Secretary(elected every four years).
Reunions are held biennially at a time selected by the Executive Host.
During each reunion a business meeting is held for the election of officers, any other association business and site selection of the succeeding reunion.
There are no annual dues collected from the membership. There is a one time charge of $15.00 for any new eligible member's name to be listed on the Association roster and to help in defraying newsletter and other membership costs.
