About Taming the Dragons

Taming the Dragons: Real Help for Real School Problems is divided into two parts.

The first third of the book explains how children learn and what goes wrong when children have trouble learning.

Most teachers of learning disabled students know most of this information. There are two chapters they might want to read, however. Chapter Four goes into detail about what happens in the brain when we learn. Since this approach leads to the major premise for the educational solutions, I recommend that all read that chapter.

In addition, many teachers have little knowledge about how attentional disorders can disrupt learning.

The last two-thirds of the book contain simple, inexpensive and quick things to try to solve specific learning problems. They're called Tips and Tricks.
