Coaching Positions and Internships
ATAC is a year-round USS club located in Tallahassee, Florida, USA. We have over 150 swimmers from novice to national caliber. The team trains in the city pool at Myers Park and in the long course pool on the campus of Florida State University. A long course pool is being constructed by the city with a scheduled completion date of June, 2000.
ATAC is a very progressive organization with a continuing education program for coaches, a comprehensive system for skill instruction, and dedicated support from boosters. ATAC has implemented the
Plan for Enhancing Technique Instruction that was developed by Swimming Technology Research. The plan is a comprehensive and systematized approach to skill learning that includes programs for training coaches and instructing swimmers. The plan utilizes the Torpedo Expert System for Competitive Swimming so that the coaches, swimmers, and parents all have a common language to discuss stroke mechanics. The plan also includes hand force analysis using Aquanex. Workouts are designed for ATAC using WorkOutWriter.Coaching positions available
ATAC is accepting applications for part-time assistant swim coaches. Preference will be given to candidates with coaching experience and an educational background in sport/exercise science, physical education, or related fields. Tallahassee offers many of the advantages of a large city in entertainment, dining, and recreation as well as the small town advantages of a clean environment, friendly communities, and short commuting times.
Florida State University offers the opportunity for ATAC coaches to work on an advanced degree in sport science. ATAC has an established relationship with both the Movement Science Department and the Physical Education Department.
