The Texas Area Betta Society (TABS) was founded in April 1998 by a group of betta enthusiasts in Texas to promote bettas (also known as Siamese fighting fish) in Texas and surrounding states. It was recognized as a chapter of the International Betta Congress (IBC) in June 1998. Dues are $10 per year per person for full membership and $5 per year for affiliate (non-voting) membership. Further information concerning joining or about the club may be obtained by emailing us. TABS hosts betta shows. Show bettas from all over the country are on display during our shows and there is an auction held after each show in which show stock is for sale. We will post the schedule and the show results of our shows, and perhaps other IBC-sanctioned shows, on this website.

So what other activities do we sponsor other than betta shows? We have club meetings every month at which information and bettas are exchanged. Many of our members are in contact with one another by email and phone between meetings for advice and support. We publish a newsletter, THE TABULATOR. We also encourage our members to take photos of their bettas. We generally try to live up to our club motto which is, "Keeping TABS on bettas."
