Map to Huckleberry Pond
|
Take 91 to the Tustin Ave offramp, just west of 91/55 junction. Go north to La Palma, then right (East) on La Palma. Watch for a "Tank Cleaning" sign on the right. Turn right and park at the end of the Cul de Sac. There is a gate in the fence (club members have the combination), that gives access to the pond. No going in the water and no man-carrying boats. (The club provides an R/C retrieval boat on weekends).
Mapwise, Huckleberry pond starts about half way between Lakeview and Tustin Aves, then goes east to Lakeview Ave. It is between La Palma Ave and the 91 freeway. It is just East of the fishing lake, which is nearer to Tustin Ave, also between 91 and La Palma. So in the big empty spot you see on this map, as one drives east on La Palma from Tustin Ave, one sees the fishing lake on the right (south) side, then Huckleberry Pond. The flying site is closer to the west end of the pond. These lakes are a series of holding ponds owned by the Santa Ana Water District, which has a periodic security patrol.
