I am currently working on a
VISUAL BASIC editor for the PSS480,an updated version
of the program which produced the .syx files for use with MIDI-ox or similar
SYSx dumping program. If you are interested in this project, mail me so I
can get feedback about the program updates.Hopefully I will make versions
for the PSS51,PSS6/780 etc etc.
In the meantime visit Bobby's
Place and check out the Old Programs
section.
Due to requested information about how to MIDI-fy a VIC-20,the information
can now be found
HERE.

Notes on using the Zipped SYSx: These
files are for use with MIDI-ox or similar until such point that the VB Editor
is ready.The files contain
hexadecimal
code as indicated in the relevant reference manual. This code can be
transferred using MIDI-ox back and forth
between the relevant device.Generally speaking, the codes consist of blocks
that are headed F0 and end in F7 and contain a CHECKSUM generated by an algorithm
- The Two's complement of the 7 bit sum.To perform this algorithm
manually IS possible, but an absolute pain to use with a hexadecimal program
such as MIDI-ox,which is why I intend
re-programming the editor which I wrote for the
VIC-20.However,it IS possible to alter the hexadecimal
code manually, all that is necessary is to recalculate the CHECKSUM.For
information on LOGIC and BINARY - see
Electronic
Logic. Otherwise ...mail
me.
