The fact that Venus may be eternally uninhabitable for humans is no reason for Venus to have no calendar.

Calendars that mesh the history of two worlds can be useful (even if only one has history - or even days!) if only to amuse us by seeing when our birthdays would have fallen there so as to better understand our own astrology. Several of the calendars above are also conceived as an entreaty to the goddesses to preserve and nurture life on Earth.

The ancient Mayans studied the path of Venus and used it to help develop their elaborate calendar. The Mayan Calendar will complete a cycle in 2012 and some have expressed foreboding that this may herald some "end-of-the-world". I hope to have demonstrated, through the various calendars introduced on this website, that there is no limit to the possibilities that exist for dividing time into calendrical units. Just because any particular calendar completes a cycle or runs out of days, is no reason to presume that the world will end.
