Assembled by a graphic artist and Middle Eastern dancer frustrated by the lack of
readily available, high quality digital Middle Eastern clip art. These
images are collected directly from original printed sources (books,
periodicals) retrieved from searches through libraries and private
collections. They are NOT culled from existing electronic or printed
collections. The images have been painstakingly researched for copyright
status & publication permission, scanned, edited, and optimized for use
in desktop and Web publishing.
150 individual images (in the electronic version, each provided in two
.TIF resolutions and as a .GIF file resulting in 450 files) in the following
categories:
Scenes
Objects
Decorations (borders, accents, etc)
Men
Women
Musicians
Dancers
Ancient Egypt
Collection on CD:
Optimized for PC and Mac (on the same CD). Provided in 300 and 600 dpi
TIFF (.TIF), and 72 dpi .GIF for use on World Wide Web pages. TIFF files
are compatible with almost any graphics, page layout, and most word
processing programs. The GIF files are optimized for size and viewing at
computer monitor resolutions. Images are either black and white or
grayscale bitmaps on white background (re. requests for transparent
backgrounds: we're sorry but they aren't available in this volume). The
high image quality means they respond well to re-sizing (minimal
pixilation). Easily manipulated in PhotoShop or other image handling
programs (for coloring, creating transparent backgrounds, etc.)
The CD comes with a printed booklet containing thumbnail pictures of all
images and their corresponding file names. The files on the disk and the
printed index are organized by category (men, women, dancers, scenes,
etc.) for easy location of desired images.
Allowable Use:
All individual images are either copyright free (in the public domain), or in the case of
images which have been significantly altered, you are granted license
to: use them as you wish in your own publications or art work, for
personal or business use, except for resale. The COLLECTION is
copyrighted and resale of the images in any way or reproduction of the
collection (more than 10 images in one work) is illegal.
