Jim and Sue Wiedemann would like to share with you their collections of Texaco memorabilia.  The following page is just a small sampling of where years on a committed journey have led them. The Wiedemann's offer their vast expertise to any who are interested in  broadening their own collections or for those who are just beginning their own journey into the world of Texaco!  Welcome and Enjoy!

     

1902-1951:

On April 7, 1902, the charter of The Texas Company was filed in Beaumont, Texas.

The first sale of a product, asphalt, was made in February, 1903 and operations began at Port Arthur Works on November 3, 1903.

In 1911, Texaco opened it's first "filling station" in Brooklyn, New York.

By 1928, Texaco had extended it's marketing area to cover all 48 states.

On April 26, 1931, Ed Wynn made his first appearance as Texaco's "Fire Chief" before a live radio audience; as the spring advertising campaign, "Listen", featuring the Texaco Scotty dogs ended on April 30th.

1941-1945.  during the war years, Texaco supplied petroleum products such as aviation fuel, gasoline, lubricants, fuel oil and petrochemicals to the Government.  All of texaco's ocean-going tankers were used in the war effort.  A total of 5,855 Texaco employees served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

"Texaco Star Theater", a weekly, one hour television show starring Milton Berle, premieres on June 8, 1948.

In March of 1951, The Texas Company became a $1.5 billion corporation.

Left: This is a 1960's steel child's toy storage chest in the form of a Fire Chief Gas Pump. The Pump is 40" H X 20" W. The globe mounted on top is a reproduction. This logo never appeared on an actual pump globe used in stations

Right: The Texaco salt products were produced in Tulsa, OK. The plant opened here in 1931. The salt was sold in these bags at the stations and also available at some area grocery stores. It sold for about 8 cents per pound.
