THE TEXAS HIGHLANDERS
Wha's like us? Gie Few! And they're a'deid!
The Texas Highlanders are a new group in Austin, promoting the culture, heritage, history and accomplishments of the Scottish in Central Texas.   The group meets during various functions throughout the year.

If you would like to become a member please email Donnelle McKaskle at TexasHighlanders@aol.com  and she will send you meeting places and times as well as other Scottish information and updates.  Membership is free.

The 'Dillo Rampant is a registered trademark of the Texas Highlanders and can not be used without their permission.
We love the stories about the great Scottish heros.  Not just Bruce and Wallace, but Murray, Douglas and the rest of the "Brae Riders."   But, we are also interested in the lesser known lives of the common Scot.  The miner, the bricklayer, fishcutter and weaver.  These were the men and women who are the true Scots.  In their lives we find the true culture of Scotland.

We call ourselves the Texas Highlanders because the organization is located in the "Hill Country", the "Highlands" of Texas.

We hope to expose the US to the culture of the Lowland Scots as well as the Highlanders of Scotland.   Much of which you are probably already aware of like Robert Burns.

The Texas Highlanders are also dedicated to attracting and encouraging the participation of new Scot immigrants as well as Scottish Americans.
Last, we have no interest in "boards" and "long business meetings" and "gavel banging" .  We are a "social" group.   Most of our meeting are "ceili" atmosphere meeting.  A chance to get together and share history, music, poetry and great food.
