Instructions:

I chose a long sleeve white blouse with front pocket. Launder and dry without using fabric softener. Decide where shoulder epaulets will go, then trace & iron on butterfly patterns in a complimentary way. I used one full & one side view on front. Photo shows back. The full view butterflies are done in the purple color scheme, the side views in yellow. Sections at outer edges of all butterflies are black. When dry, add details with gold, little gold oblongs on top of the black. Draw gold line between squares. On top wing sections, these are black with the large circles being gold. You may paint around these gold spots or paint the whole thing black and add gold spots on top. Draw connecting lines with gold. Bodies and antennae are black, antennae tips gold. Yellow butterflies: Using a wet on wet technique, base one section at a time with Cad yellow, then add white highlight in area indicated by x's on pattern. Blend well on either side of highlight. Shade with terra cotta in area indicated by hatchmarks on pattern. Blenad & then add little dk. chocolate shading on top of terra cotta but do not extend inward as far. Blend lightly. When dry, thin dk. chocolate slightly with water, just a drop or two & using liner, draw in lines on top of painted section as shown on pattern. (Lines on the black sections are glorious gold.)

Purple butterflies: Same as yellow butterflies except base with white, use cad yellow for highlight and shade Diox. purple. Draw in lines with thinned purple.

When painting is completed and dry, attach battenburg lace to blouse at shoulders extending over shoulder to back. Cut various sizes of circles from the fabrics. To make yo yo's turn under 1/8" on outer edge of circles & using needle & quilting thread, stitch around edge with gathering stitch. Pull both ends of thread tight to gather when you have gone all the way around. Tie off thread and flatten. Stitch or glue on top of battenburg lace at shoulders in pleasing pattern. Use Heavy Metals Gold with writing tip to outline the battenburg lace.

Enjoy.
