BATTLES OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION A Pocket in The Regimental
The American Revolution was a polical, psychological and economic conflict as well as a military one. However without military success the American Rebellion would have been rememberred as just that, a rebellion, not a revolution and a failed rebellion at that. However, though the Americans did suffer defeats - many of them - they also scored victories even when the victory was nothing more than escaping to fight another day. Such victories against a superior and more numerous foe were great accomplishments. The following is a history of these victories and defeats. The conflicts are grouped in a chronological fashion. There are campaigns, operations, battles and naval battles. Campaigns will relate operational events with reference and links to specific battles more completely described in their own page. Each link below leads to the story of one such event and related links. 1774 1775 Search for the Arsenals of Freedom Winter 1775 Espionage Campaign Lexington and Concord 4/19/75 Land Battle Time To Catch The Spy July - October 1775 Espionage Campaign 1776 Cruise of Esek Hopkins 1/4/76-4/8/76 Naval Cruise - First Cruise of Continental Navy - Raid on Nassau, New Providence 3/6/76 Amphibious Raid - Action Off Block Island 4/6/76 Naval Engagement The Signing of the Declaration of Independence 7/4/76 - Political Event 1777 1778 Action Off Barbados 3/7/78 Naval Engagement 1779 1780 1781 Battle Off Cape Sable, 5/29/81 Naval Engagement Yorktown, 8/20/81-10/17/81, Land Battle, Siege 1782 1783 BACK TO HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
