Solid surface is a blend of natural minerals and either acrylic or polyester resin to form a nonporous product. Each manufacturer adds to their specific formulation, different pigments to produce unique colors, patterns, and textures. With a few exceptions, solid surface is shipped to fabricators in sheet form. It can then be joined with an inconspicuous seam, carved, routed, and/or sandblasted. Acrylic based solid surface can be thermoformed (heated and bent) into virtually any form. By combining various solid surface colors and or other materials, such as wood, tile, laminate, metal, etc., creations are limited only to the imagination.
