The blurriness in this photograph can be attributed to the low-light conditions under which it was taken. This tornado developed and widened out very quickly in the early evening of May 25, 1997, a minor outbreak day in Oklahoma and Kansas. Here, it rips through wheat near Perth, Kansas. A videocamera device known as a Dillo-cam was deployed in the path of the tornado -- which happened to pass directly over it.
