Update -- added 15 June 2002

Trials, tribulations, and other tasks have kept me from updating this site. Read on to find out what lies ahead for this old page.

Return of an Anime Webmaster

Almost three years have passed since I last updated this site. Three years. And yet the hit counter keeps clicking on, 10,000 a year, steady as clockwork, even without me saying a single word. In fact, it's probably going to take some time before any of you notice this update, and it will probably shock the hell out of you as I'm sure most have given this site up for dead.

A lot of things have happened in those three years. I graduated medical school, and now I am a resident physician, soon to be a fellow in advanced training, and then I will be a practicing physician out of training. But this has not been a terrible obstacle.

The strongest reason that I have not been able to keep up with the site has been my inability to use modern webmastering software. Maybe more like a refusal to learn to use it. Then, my PC's died. Yes, both. In fact, I'm now on a completely different computing platform (OS X/Unix) and writing this on a USB keyboard attached to my frankensteined Mac iBook. Hell, I'm using TextEdit to write this (I was going to use PICO, but it's too late at night to do that.

On the other side, the resurgence in anime (or rather the growth of it) thanks to Cartoon Network has allowed me to stake an interest in it. This time, the credit goes to a fine series that came out before I left webmastering. Cowboy Bebop thus will be the first anime to be reviewed once AnimeLink is resurrected in what I like to call (oh so humbly) Project Phoenix.

This isn't going to happen right away, and all at once. Hobbled as I am in the computer department (no scanner, no graphics editing software right now), it'll take time. I plan on purchasing a new PowerMac in July (you Mac-philes will know the significance of that statement) and at that time will invest in a scanner and software. In the meantime, a whole shipment of anime DVDs are on their way to me, including Gundress and Armitage Dual-Matrix, as well as some I have already received such as Metropolis and Akira: Remastered Edition.

In the meantime, there's a cliffhanger for all you AnimeLink faithful. Will Tom continue to hand-code? Will he learn Dreamweaver MX instead? Will he be able to learn Photoshop three version numbers later?

Stay Tuned, True-Believers.
