Introduction to Masters T&F

Welcome to my disease. It's called The Masters T&F Home Page. The malady was diagnosed in February 1996, when I noticed that AOL allowed its members to have their own Web pages. The page migrated to connectnet.com in May 1996 but wandered back to AOL in November 1996. Over time, the site has metastasized. It now incorporates a gazillion pages and links. (I've lost count.) I'm a goner.

Uhm, who am I? Ken Stone.

At first, I invited meet directors to submit information for a masters meet calendar. But I couldn't keep up with the updates. So I dropped that section. Now I happily recommend that folks check out Andy Hecker's site or the official USATF page, which contains a vast calendar of meets by month and region. They do a great job.

Speaking of official, this page isn't. Although USATF and WAVA are mentioned a lot, these organizations don't produce or control this page. I do. In my spare time. (Between rehabbing my latest injury, remodeling my new house and taking afternoon naps.)

The buttons on the left lead you to some interesting resources. I especially recommend the WTC, or Webmaster TC. New visitors should see my masters mission statement and FAQ. Newcomers also might appreciate world-class M50 Canadian hurdler Jess Brewer's eloquent introduction to masters track and his training advice to me. And opinionated trackos might like my polemic on the absence of masters track coverage by Track & Field News.

Here are the main sections of this site:

Masters FAQ, a rundown on this T&F niche.

Training regimens of some serious athletes.

Masters T&F Results folks have sent me. Much more to be uploaded. (I'm always behind on this.)

Masters T&F Records for the best performances by over-40 men and over-35 women. And links to world veterans records by age group.

Obligatory cool links page, which includes a mainly masters section.

Previously posted items from this page, including a proposal for masters in the Olympic Games and a Masters Manifesto. More recent posts are in this site too.

Webmaster TC, where dozens of athletes from eight nations have listed their athletic bios and e-mail addresses. Admire and encourage them!

Some symptoms of masters T&F fever. Additions are welcomed!

As a procrastinator webmaster with many other responsibilities (and a selfish insistence on training and competing), my computer time is extremely limited. But I update this page when time allows. I hope my fellow Webmaster TC members and T-and-F netters contribute by mailing me masters results and news when they spot them.

The disease? I hope you've become infected!

(Thanks for stopping by)
