Webmaster TC: Larry Mark Weisenthal

Vice president for reformed swimmers

Name: Larry Mark Weisenthal, RunnSwim@aol.com

Born: April 17, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, USA

Occupation: Physician (medical oncologist)

Home: Huntington Beach, California, USA

All-time T&F bests: Best HS times (in Berkley, Michigan) of 52.1 in 440y, 2:04.5 in 880y. Was on varsity swim team in college (U of Louisville, 200y backstroke); but held the intramural track record in the 880 for several years (2:07.2).

Masters achievements: Larry writes: "Didn't run in a track meet again until May 5, 1997, when I ran 58.9 in the 400 meters at the Crown Valley Senior Olympics at Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA (near Pasadena)."

Trivia: Larry made his 58.9 mark, he writes, "on 12.5 minutes of training per day 3 days per week, in addition to 1 hour a day of masters swimming workouts 4 mornings a week (love long-distance ocean swimming races). Standard running workout is 6 x 200, send off every 2.5 minutes, holding 31-32 sec, walk diagonally across the infield between repeats. Now that I have had one track race under my belt and learned how much better I like track races than I ever liked the long road races I ran in the early to mid-1980s, I am going to up my training time to 20 minutes 4 days per week and throw in some 400s, along with the 200s. Very curious to see if I will be able to run an 800 on this training by the end of the summer, along with maybe dropping my 400 time. My model for training is Lee Evans, as related to me by a noted PhD exercise physiologist."

CEO's note: Can fish sprint? You bet. The WTC welcomes all reformed baseball players, golfers, tennis nuts, etc. We forgive you.

See Nedstats for very detailed information on visits since July 8, 1998.
