Webmaster TC: Joe Corderman

Joe Corderman, VP for Maryland milers

Name: Joe Corderman, corderma@teas.eglin.af.mil

Born: May 4, 1961, in Hagerstown, Maryland, USA

Occupation: Engineer

Home: Niceville, Florida, USA

All-time T&F bests: High school bests of 1:52 in 800m, 4:14 in mile, 15:30 in 5k (cross country) and 53:00 for 10 miles (road)

Submasters achievements: Joe writes: "Started back training and racing seriously this past fall (1996). Under 16:50 for 5k a couple of times, and a 1:19 half-marathon. Plan a slow buildup over the next few years. Would like to run some 800 and 1500 races on the track, along with 5k and 10k road races, maybe a marathon down the road. Any training advice welcome. Also interested in information regarding open track meets in the Southeast."

Trivia: "Started running in eighth grade and set Prince William County, Virginia, middle school county record in 880 with 2:08. I was a decent high school runner, all-state twice in cross-country and three times in track. Did not do much in college . . . due to injury, sickness, etc. Did little competitive running in the ensuing 13 years."

"Note for Marty Sonnenfeldt: I won the high school 1600 at the 1979 Vol Track Classic. Remember talking with George Watts after the race about coming to UT, but had already committed to Virginia."

CEO's note: Masters track is the perfect setting for realizing track dreams. Another 4:14 mile may not be in the cards for Joe. But with proper training and luck avoiding injury, he can be national class on the submasters and masters circuit. It can be done!

See Nedstats for very detailed information on visits since July 8, 1998.
