Tri-Loop History
For the introduction, I am Randy Harris, and my brother is Tim Harris. We are still relatively young at the sport but really enjoy it. We started with a 14' Flat Bottom boat with a coleman lantern and was shooting fish with our recurve bow's. We had made a rod to hold the arrow on the shelf for both bow's. We were having problem's with penetrating gars so we decided to switch bow's and use compound bow's. After the first night of fishing with our compound bows and shooting off the shelf, we decided that something had to be done. We both were suffering from finger cramps, because every time we lowered or rapidly moved the bow, we would have to hold the arrow in place to keep it from falling off.
We searched for what we thought would be a suitable and durable rest for bowfishing and could not find one to our satisfaction, so we decided to make one. We did a lot of research to get our end product. The first rest we made was a square piece of aluminum tubing welded to an aluminum stud to screw into the riser. We welded the stud to the corner of the square to provide a diamond shape when installed. This design had to be cut-down to allow the arrow to get close enough to the riser to achieve a proper center shot. When the cutting was finished, it basically was the shape of a triangle.
This design being the best due to a few reasons:
First, it forces the arrow into the same launch position for every shot regardless of it's previous position.
Second with a symmetrical triangle, the center shot can be achieved more precisely.
Third, it completely contains the arrow and prevents the arrow from accidentally falling regardless of what happens to the bow.
The other problem that we had with the first design was, the aluminum was too soft and was wearing quickly. To solve that we used stainless steel. We decided that stainless steel would be the best choice for corrosion resistance and durability. So we finally had a design that was durable enough for bowfishing, and it gives optimum performance of the bow.
We used our rest for the first year and then someone told us that we should look at marketing our arrow rest, so here we are.
