CHARM CLASS
USS Talisman NCC 77056
Rear View - Charm Class (USS Talisman)
Ships (20-30 planned): Talisman, Charm (class ship), Amulet, Scarab, to date... only Talisman has completed trials...
Mission Profile: assigned to Sector Strategic Operations units operating out of designated Starbases. These units shall be used to enforce Federation law, prevent hostile incursions into Federation space, and examine reports of anomalous sentient political, social, scientific, or other activity within Federation space.
Appearance: this class of ships uses a modified version of the Intrepid class destroyer's saucer section, outfitted to carry two small retractable warp nacelles. The aft hull has two distinct and separate sections: Engineering and Modules.
The Engineering section is an enlarged modification of the Defiant class's, with some internal changes. The main warp nacelles have two settings: retraction (for firefights, which allows the ship to protect them better and for high warp, which allows the ship to use a smaller warp field, thus allowing higher warp with smaller engines), and extension (for low warp and high, non-combat impulse, which allows for greater manuverability). They extend straight out to the side (comprising the "sides" of the Engineering section). The saucer nacelles also extend and retract.

| Saucer | warp 3.0 | warp 6.0 |

| Standard Configuration | warp 8.0 | warp 9.9 |
The Charm class of starship is designed as the Federation's next generation of 'troubleshooters.' Their mission is relatively simple: find trouble... prevent trouble.
Expanding on the interchangability featured in the Nebula Class, The Charm class is designed to have up to 4 "modules" installed. Where it would take a week to change a Nebula's module a Charm's can be changed in an hour.
(Note: modules do NOT provide the same abilities as a built-in installation. They are smaller than a dedicated installation, but allow for flexibility in mission profile, i.e. if you find yourself needing something to handle bio-chem warfare, you can load in a science lab and a medical lab with specific bio-chem instruments, etc. These will be better than what anything but a dedicated medical or science ship would have, and maybe as good in that one single area... but they couldn't handle trauma cases nearly as well as the normal sickbay. Also, these are not deus ex machinas... there are not a large number nor variety of these floating around.
The Talisman currently has 8 modules - most consisting of the types mentioned herein.) These can be anything from extra cargo bays to troop transport bays (each bay will hold and provide for 100 marines for short (2 week) periods of time) to extra ship's batteries (each will allow one extra shot of all ship's weapons or one hour of ship's full shielding without the main engines being online) to science and medical labs.
While not designed as dedicated warships, they do have the capability of standing up to most enemy ships in short intense firefights. To facilitate this, an improved model of the Multi-Vector Attack system was installed, as was a large weapons suite. Weaponry is an advanced version of the suite found on the Intrepid class, and is slightly more powerful (main improvements lie in the Multi-Vector Attack system, self-modulating phasers, etc. carried over from the Defiant class gunships).
The sensor suite is state of the art, and the Charm Class carry the largest computers in a mobile installation Starfleet has ever fielded.
An experimental holo-projector has been emplaced, allowing the ship to emulate any ship, object, etc. which has been scanned and which is within 10% of the physical dimensions of the ship (no attempting to disguise onself as a d'Deridex class cruiser or a Ferengi Marauder). This system is the best the Federation could manage after the destruction of the USS Katana's advanced holo-projectors and the death of thier creator Prof. Velo
Heavy equipment shielding (not to be confused with defensive shields) allows the ship to pass most casual scans while so disguised, though an intensive scan cannot be fooled.
Improved versions of the emergency holo-doctor to assist in many crew functions have been installed, though these are limited to the areas of the ship they can access. Internal holo-emitters have been installed to this end, with hardware limitations to prevent abuse or sabotage. The ship's provisions and quartering are not the largest or most comfortable in Starfleet, certainly nothing to compare with the Galaxy-class's luxury suites. This is due to the large amount of internal space taken up by mission-critical items. However, as these ships are also not designed for extended long-range or long-period missions, it was considered that the space provided was adequate.

USS KATANA NX 99055 (Destroyed)
USS Katana (Ninja Class) in combat with USS Warspite (Defiant Class)
A top secret covert operations vessel, combining the firepower of the Defiant Class and the advanced technology of the Intrepid Class.
The Ninja Class was designed as a varient of the Charm Class, incorporating a prototype holo-projector system that could mimic virtually any ship both externally and internally.
Top Secret (insert SSO clearance code)
Certain factions within The Federation decided to use the USS Katana to infiltrate the Dominion, planning to use her to launch a world killing Bio-Genic weapon at Cardassia Prime.
The attack, called operation Headhunter, was a complete failure, The Dominion had inserted a virus into the Katana's computer whilst it was docked with DS9. The virus caused the ship's holoprojections to murder the crew and then detonate it's warp core. It was only the quick reactions of the DS9 command staff that prevented the explosion taking out one of the stations pylons.
Subsequent investigations indicate that "Operation Headhunter" had not so much been compromised as actually planned by The Founders. It was always intended to fail as embarassing as possible..and if it had taken out DS9 as well.......well that would have been a bonus.

Top View - City Class (USS Exeter)
The City Class Attack Cruiser is a product of Starfleet's alliance with the Klingons, drawing on Klingon design concepts and utilising existing modular components to speed production. It was hoped that the combination of the warrior ethos and Federation technology would produce a breakthrough in ship design...
Initially Starfleet found the design to be "unsuitable" it was spartan, its sensors were below standard, and it requied Galaxy Class engines to bolster its less than adequate structural integrety. The design committee desolved in acrimony with certain high ranking officers claiming the design was Gowron's idea of a joke.
however more recently these ships have been rushed into mass production to replace heavy losses on the Cardassian border. It was quicker to use the existing production plants and produce the City Class, rather than wait a year for the new Defiant, Promethius and Charm Classes.
The City Class ships are not considered to be capable of frontline duities and tend to be assigned to less critical sectors

TYPE 22 - FLOWER CLASS
SHUTTLE
Rear View - Type 22 Shuttle
USS MARIGOLD
The Flower class is a four man short range shuttle utilising interchangeable wing mounted pods for mission specific equipment. It shares many common features with the Charm Class Destroyer and was designed to complement that class of ship.
USS LOTUS
The survivors of the USS Katana only escaped because, as luck would have it, the shuttle that they escaped in happened to be equiped with shield generator pods. The USS Lotus is considered a lucky ship and Cmdr Bishop has pulled strings for it to be assigned to the Talisman.
USS MARIGOLD
The Marigold is the other Flower Class shuttle assigned to the Talisman. Bishop does not consider it to be a "lucky" ship although this is of course nonsense.
