TRS-80 Model I Emulator For DOS

The TRSF-80 emulator is a program is designed to emulate a TRS-80 Model I computer on a DOS-based Intel x86 platform. Though it is a DOS application, it should operate correctly under most varieties of Windows.

TRSF-80 currently supports the following features:

Hardware Emulation

48K CPU with Z-80 microprocessor
Expansion Interface (currently only floppy drive emulation)
4 80-track single-sided disk drives
Lowercase and numeric keypad upgrade
Audio support of TRS-80 cassette audio output through Sound Blaster

User Options

A Disk Menu which allows disks to be mounted on-line
A variety of screen colors
A configurable volume for sound output
A choice of keyboard layouts
An integrated debugger
An adjustable processor speed

Emulation of RS-232 COM Port
Emulation of Printer
Emulation of Expansion Interface 40Hz clock interrupt
User-Configurable keyboard layout
Snapshot control
Write-protected disks
Creation of new unformatted disks

The current release of 0.1 is a beta test release. All of the features contained in it are fully functional. The main reason it is a beta test release is that it still needs user feedback. Please feel free to make comments about features you would like to have added. Also, if there are any features that you either don't like or find hard to use, please make suggestions on those as well.

TRSF-80 is freeware. You may use it free of charge and distribute it to your friends. You may not sell this emulator for a profit, though it can be included in a distribution with other freeware/shareware. Though this emulator is freeware, I will be more than happy to accept any donations. Just drop me a line and I'll send you my current mailing address.

TRSF-80 version 0.1 executable

Model I ROM/Newdos/80 v2.0 The Model I ROM is required to to make TRSF-80 run. I have not included it on my site as I'm not sure about the copyrights.

Eventually I'll be releasing the source code as well, but I want to get a little feedback first. The faster I get feedback, the faster I'll release the code, so let me know!
