Jean Morris Trumbauer
JEAN MORRIS TRUMBAUER, consultant and author: Specializing in shared ministry systems and gifts discovery

Jean Morris Trumbauer provides professional consultation and training services to churches, denominations, and religious and non-profit organizations throughout the United States.

She leads workshops and retreats and serves as a consultant, specializing in gifts discovery and a systems approach to empowering lay people to share the ministry of the church.

Jean authored Sharing the Ministry: A Practical Guide for Transforming Volunteers Into Ministers, published by Augsburg Fortress. Her new book is Created and Called: Discovering Our Gifts for Abundant Living.

She served as executive director of a Minneapolis ecumenical agency, the Director of Shared Ministry in a large Twin Cities congregation, and a lay leader in her own parish.

Jean graduated with her doctor of ministry degree from United Theological Seminary, New Brighton, Minnesota. She also holds a master's degree in religious studies.

    Workshop Fees
    $350.00 (includes manual) for first participant from congregation or group
    $250.00 (no manual) each additional participant from congregation or group

    * All workshop fees cover extensive handouts as well as refreshments
    Additional manuals available at $65.95 (plus tax if applicable)

Shared Ministry Workshops:

    Jean leads one to three-day workshops throughout the country on shared (volunteer) ministry systems and her manual, Sharing the Ministry: A Practical Guide for Transforming Volunteers Into Ministers.

      An All-Day Workshop covers the topics of paradigm shift in ministry; theology of gifts; designing ministries; recruiting and followup; motivating and supporting.

      More Advanced Workshops (days two and three) include the topics of interviewing, managing data, managing risks, supervising, evaluating, and planning.

Gifts-Discovery and Gifts-Based Ministry Workshops:

    Leadership Training Events:

    Jean trains church leaders in developing and implementing gifts-based ministry and provides a trainer-of-trainers workshop for those intending to lead gifts-discovery seminars using materials from her new manual Created and Called: Discovering Our Gifts for Abundant Living. These leadership events range from one-day to three and a half-day events. The longer events include the following:

    • Exporing a new, wholistic, and comprehensive model for gifts-based ministry
    • Experiencing exciting new gifts-discovery reflection tools for yourself
    • Learning to design and teach gifts-discovery seminars and use discovery tools
    • Exploring many non-classroom approaches to gifts-discovery and celebration
    • Designing gift-based ministry to reach the diverse membership of your congregation

    Participants in these sessions will discover more ways to do gifts-discovery and gift-based ministry in congregational life than they ever dreamed possible!

    Gifts-Discovery Seminars and Retreats:
