Make Your Own SMDs

with Robison's New Component Carriers

. . . . SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA - Robison Electronics, Inc. has announced the introduction of Robison Surface Mount Component Carriers (SMCC), designed to provide a platform for the surface mounting of mini transformers, toroids, ferrite cores, small axial lead resistors, capacitors and inductors.
. . . . Flat surface mount leads are insert-molded into a black high temperature plastic base during the manufacturing process. Currently, there are three different body sizes: one with four leads, two each on opposite sides of the platform; one features six leads, three each on opposite sides of the platform; and one has eight leads, four each on opposite sides of the platform.
. . . . A small component's leads can be soldered directly to the SMCC's surface mount leads, with the component resting on the carrier's platform. some small components could easily be held in place by their soldered leads, with no other attachment to the platform needed. Larger or heavier components which are not equipped for surface mounting can be mounted to the SMCC platform either through the use of epoxy or a quick-drying, high strength liquid adhesive, with their leads then soldered to the SMCC's surface mount leads.
. . . . Robison Surface Mount Component Carriers are currently available in three sizes, offering a size to meet most requirements. End users with specific requirements not met by the size standards currently offered are encouraged to discuss their requirements with the technical marketing staff at Robison Electronics. Prices range from $0.24 to $0.35 (Qty/100), depending on size. All products from Robison Electronics are manufactured in the US.
