Tol-O-Matic Servo Drives
Superior Torque Speed Curves,Tighter Control
. . . . HAMEL, MN - Tol-O-Matic has announced AXIOM Brush and Brushless Servo Motor Drives, the newest components in the Axidyne Electric Motion Control System. AXIOM drives utilize a high-speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to implement high bandwidth digital control of traditional servo motors in torque, velocity or position modes. These drives represent a significant innovation in servo motor control. AXIOM Brushless Drives consistently provide 15.5% better bus voltage utilization, resulting in improved efficiency and significantly better torque-speed curves than conventional sinusoidal drives.
. . . . According to Keith Hochhalter, Director Product Development at Tol-O-Matic, "AXIOM Drives were developed as a result of Tol-O-Matic's strong focus on supplying technologically-advanced , easy-to-use servo drives at prices competitive with many of the stripped-down drives being introduced by other manufacturers."
. . . . The three AXIOM Brushless Drives (10A, 20A, and 30A peak performance) employ state-of-the-art space vector commutation combined with flux vector motor current control to deliver a 15% -30% improvement in torque speed curves (depending on motor and application), while providing a significant reduction in torque variations. The brushless units also feature Auto-Phasing, which eliminates the need for Hall-effect sensors in the motor (phasing or start-up commutation).
. . . . All of the AXIOM Drives include pluggable screw terminal connections for quick and easy installation, analog torque, analog velocity or step/direction modes, single or three phase 115/208-230VAC input, 4 MHz encoder input, 3A brake relay, and simple visual set-up, tuning, and diagnostics performed from three windows. The new drives also provide for internal dissipation of bus current regeneration, 25W or 50W, and include connections for additional external regeneration capacity.
. . . . The 10 amp continuous AXIOM Brush Drive utilizes the same high-speed DSP technology as the brushless units, resulting in a lower cost servo system that offers many of the same features. Digital current, velocity, and position calculations enable high bandwidth control while minimizing the drift and aging problems inherent in traditional analog drives.
. . . . The AXIOM on-screen oscilloscope function includes automatic sweep time triggers and automatic scaling functions. Advanced on-screen diagnostics, including a "real time" bar graph display and oscilloscope, keep users constantly aware of vital operating data.
. . . . Tol-O-Matic, an internationally-certified ISO 9001 manufacturer, has been designing and manufacturing high quality movement and motion control products for nearly 40 years. Free sizing and selection software is available.
