The Gathering

It’s a rough life being eleven years old and the top rated player in the state of Arizona. There’s always a bunch of hot shots sneaking around, hoping to pull out a win and grab some glory in the process. This was the situation that was haunting Peiyaun Ren at the Arizona Sizzler. The open was not your ordinary single termination draw. The players who advanced out of their own round-robin had to compete against all of the other players who advanced. This second round-robin I’ll call The Gathering because after the whole blade wielding battle is over … there can be only one. The honorable participants of The Gathering were chopmaster Jim Tarkowski, all-around Luis Houed, Chinese penholder Alex Lai, unrated sensation Avinish Palepu and the little giant himself, Peiyaun Ren. The Gathering began with swashbuckling fury. Jim Tarkowski was the first to fall, followed by Alex Lai and Luis Houed. Then it was Peiyaun head-to-head with Avinash. In the third game, Avinash was up 19-11 when Peiyaun focused his mystic super powers to come back and win the open! His Kung Fu was just too good.
