Union County Churches

Quaker Church Records. Early Quaker church records for Union County families can be found in the Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy.

Information about Union County families can be found in the Bush River and Cane Creek Monthly Meeting records. Bush River Monthly Meeting was formed in Newberry County in 1770, with the following meetings for worship reporting to it: Bush River, Raburn's Creek, Tiger River, Padget's Creek, Mud Lick, Allwoods', White Lick, Edisto, Charleston, and Rocky Springs. Cane Creek Monthly Meeting was formed in Union County in 1789. When many Quaker families migrated northwest during the early 1800s, they took the church records with them. In 1809, the few remaining members of Cane Creek and Bush River Monthly Meetings were joined to the New Garden Quarterly Meeting.
