A Plan That Works
A Plan That Works . . .
Reform Social Security and Medicare:
-
Protect these programs from going bankrupt.
-
Ensure current and future generations of Americans have
choice
and access to quality - affordable health care, and are covered
by a retirement system that will assist them in their senior years.
Balance the Budget:
-
Work to ensure the Budget is balanced and stays balanced.
-
Pay down the 5.7
trillion-dollar debt, reduce spending, and provide tax relief for Americans.
(Note: The National Debt has increased by $300
billion to $5.6 trillion since 1997, and another $100 billion since 1998.
How is the budget balanced?)
-
For the long-term health of America, encourage more saving and investment.
Repair our Damaged Economy:
-
Lower our unemployment rate that is near 6 percent in many parts of our
district to 4 percent, in-line with our State and National unemployment
rates.
-
Retain jobs, expand imports, create new jobs.
-
Support small business and farmers.
Clean-up the Mine Scarred Land and Polluted Susquehanna and Lehigh
Rivers and the Streams in our District:
-
Make Northeastern and Northcentral Pennsylvania a safer and more attractive
place to raise a family and do business.
Elementary and Secondary Education:
-
Ensure 90 percent of Federal dollars allocated for elementary and secondary
education are spent on educating our children, and not consumed by the
bureaucracy in Washington.
Supports: Term Limits - Congressional Reform - Strong Defense - Tough
Crime Legislation - Veterans.
"I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and
public debt as the greatest of dangers. To preserve our independence, we
must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." Thomas Jefferson
