Over two decades before striking sitcom gold as the co-creator of
Seinfeld, Larry David began his career peddling spec scripts in Hollywood.
Many of David's Seinfeld ideas began in those early scripts including
"The Smelly Car" (Chico and the Man), "The Chinese Restaurant"
(Laverne & Shirley), and "The Puffy Shirt" (Kojak). The
first act of a Welcome Back, Kotter script bearing Larry David's name
recently began circulating on the internet. While its authenticity is not
certain, we present it here for your perusal.
Seventies sitcom version of the big-screen classic featured a young Henry
Winkler in the title role and a not-so-young Beatrice Arthur as the seductive
Mrs. Robinson.
One Dick was a priest, the other a rabbi. Can you tell which is which? Neither
could the audience.
