Comments on this site: Great water. Got some nice rainbows and small browns in the morning on a hopper dropper. Fishing slowed in the afternoon due to hot weather but still caught some fish throughout the day.

Comments on this site: I have fished almost every RMAC property. There are many senic spots. In my opinion the East River lease, B-26, is the most beautiful location. The water is VERY LOW. The streamflow data says the East River near Crested Butte is flowing at about 150 CFS, that has to be well downstream! I fished dries all day and ended up with 10 - 12 small fish. I probably would have been more successful with a dry & dropper rig; but just couldn't bring myself to nymphing so early. My recommendation is to wait until there is more water.

Comments on this site: Fished B-26 on Sat. the 22nd. & B-27 on Sun. the 23rd. Fishing was excellent on both properties. I didn't keep count, but probably ran up to at least 30 fish days. Caught some dinks, but mostly browns & rainbows from 12-16" with w/ the occasional 18 incher. The rainbows were exceptionally hard fighters. Talked w/ the guides at Willowfly Anglers for the latest conditions. They were very friendly & helpful. It's a well stocked fly shop, I recommend it. Hoppers are out early this year, and all I fished all day was a parachute hopper w/ a beadhead flashback pheasant tail nymph trailer. But, get up there soon, as flows already appear to be on the low side, and are dropping daily.

Comments on this site: fished b-27 on july 4. What a beautiful property. Caught loads of fish on Royal Humpies, Adams, Stimulators and Copper John droppers. Mostly browns, but also some very strong fighting rainbows 14" - 16". I only get to fish club properties 2 or 3 times a year, but this one is worth the cost of membership.

Comments on this site: Fished B26 and B27 on adjacent days. B27 was good because of deep pools, but B26 was UNFISHABLE. Very thin water at temperatures of 71 F by mid morning and no real pools. I would recommend avoiding this beat until the rains come.

Comments on this site: My son and I fished the property on Saturday afternoon - lots of small, eager fish on dry/droppers. The fish were not shy. The property needs a higher flow to be enjoyable (See my comment on B27 for Aug 11, 2002.

Comments on this site: Water level was fairly low but the fishing was fantastic. Hoppers, hoppers, hoppers. This fish were slamming them so hard I went through just about a dozen of them. I did use a dropper but eventually removed it and just used the dry. Caught 50/50 browns and rainbows. The browns were either small or big, with the biggest going 17 inches. The rainbows were all around 12-15 inches and tons of fun. The structure on this stretch is prime as well as the fishing!

Comments on this site: As the previous posters have mentioned it is a very beautiful property, that is for sure. There are a large number of fish in this stretch of the East River that is also true. The size of the fish was not all that impressive though. Well I guess you can't have it all, huh. The majority of the 25 or 30 fish we caught before 1:00 when we got rained out for the day were 5 to 12" Browns. Some Rainbows were caught mostly 12 or 13 inchers, 2 or 3 15" Rainbows saved the day. As Jason said Hoppers, Hoppers Hoppers........and a few Copper Johns (red and chartrues)hanging below. We'll try the Gunnison(B22) tomorrow.

Comments on this site: Fished outstanding! Only fished the East for a half day and caught a record breaking number of fish. Unfortunatly there were Green Drakes, PMD's(in a pinkish color) caddis and red quills comming off in good numbers so I was forced to catch almost all my fish on dry flies!! The fish size was a little smaller than I am used to catching on the East but the avg was around 10-12 inches. Most of the fish were rainbows and some bworns up to 16 inches. Should be good throughout the rest of this month and into August.

Comments on this site: My new favorite river is the East. When I pulled up to the parking spot I knew this was going to be special. On the downstream side of the bridge I caught a nice 15” Rainbow on a Hopper Dropper. He nailed it! I wanted to fish under the bridge as the water was low and it provided the perfect cover. I caught four fish under that bridge with a red Copper John as a dropper. One of them was over 20”. As the line sunk down under the bridge I thought the first two fish were snags. I’ll take that kind of snag anytime. Moving up river the Hopper Dropper was interesting to some fish, but the action was very slow. After lunch I moved back down to the lone pine tree at the property boundary. Moving up to the first big left hand bend in the river the action was incredible. Fish after fish hit the Copper John. Then it happened, that big snag was back and it turned out to be a 22” Rainbow. He fought hard as you can imagine. He ran out and then back in. I thought I was going to loose him several times. Finally he made the net. Easily the biggest trout I’ve ever caught!

Comments on this site: What a lovely property and great fishing. Nothing huge but nice numbers in the am and late afternoon. They were taking nymphs (copper johns especially - red ones) as well as Yellow Sallys of all things. Nothing else seemed to interest them. Most fish were nice - 12 - 14" consistently and healthy and strong. Look forward to trying it again.

Comments on this site: The river looks lower than remember, but that was two years ago. I caught several nice fish on red and green Copper Johns hung as dropper from a BC Hopper. Several fish took the BC Hopper. I switched out the BC Hopper for a yellow Stimulator and caught two fish taking the Stimulator. The real action began when I went with just a red San Juan Worm. On the first cast of this rig in a deep pool near the loan pine tree something very big hit the worm and broke me off without even slowing down. I replaced the red worm and caught five fish 10” – 14” near or under the bridge. It was a beautiful day on the East River.
