but this one is really under construction,
watch for things from our past as they appear over the next few months.)

The Ventura County Dog Fanciers was incorporated on September 7, 1935 by a group of hard working, dedicated, pure-bred dog breeders and show people.  M. L. Ley was President, M. Greenburg was Secretary, Dr. E. H. Houchin, Ruby Houchin, and D. E. Ley were Directors.
I have heard that the first Ventura County Dog Fanciers Assoc. sponsored Dog Show was in 1929, but I am waiting for details and confirmation before saying for sure.
People that I remember as being in the club for a long time when I joined in 1970 were: Grace and Jim Jaquish, Grace and Bud Wilson, Barbara and Owen Derryberry, Elaine and Bill Bergum, Neil Cannon and many more.  In the '70's this club enjoyed the status of one of the nations largest shows.  Those of us involved in the club now are very grateful to the pioneers of the Ventura County Dog Fanciers Assoc.

(Anyone with pictures or information to share from the past of Ventura County Dog Fanciers Assoc. would be in very good standing with the "Web Editor")

This picture is from the '79/81' era.  Wouldn't it be nice if they put the year on the plaque?  Yes, that is Rhonda Todd holding the trophy and that is Sylvia Rodwell handling the Dane.  Do  you have any of these
tucked away?
