Tour Vernon Center
Services

The Center is currently housed in the former Vernon Elementary School. The age, design and condition of this building makes renovation counter-productive.

Plans were drawn for construction of a new center after a feasibility study and a door-to-door survey of residents in the surrounding community were completed.

Major goals of this facility include improving the health status of seniors, maintaining that improved state through education, and providing transportation to the facility. Public transportation is not readily available in the area.

Our Mission

The Vernon Multi-Purpose Center, established by the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1976, is designed to provide outreach services to senior citizens residing in the northeast section of Kansas City, Kansas. However, the agency's services are available to all senior citizens who are residents of Wyandotte County.

Company Profile

The Center wants to make it easier for seniors to receive the educational, health and recreational services they need to lead a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully, one outcome will be a reduction in health care cost to the community and the individual.
