Welcome to the Gogebic County Sheriff Department Annual Statistics Page. This is where we hope to give you an idea as to what the Dept. does on a yearly basis. The following is a breakdown of complaints reported during the past 3 years, I have also included some breakdowns of non-criminal complaints and jail bookings from 1999 which we listed on the prior version of this web page so you can get an idea of the type and number of arrests made annually. At this time I do not have a breakdown of bookings, etc. for the recent year but as time goes on I will attempt to make this information available to our visitors.

It should be noted that unlike some other departments, we do not do an "Official" complaint on every call we receive. Whereas some departments may do a complaint any time they assist a citizen, write a traffic citation or do anything involving the public, we do not. Many of the minor duties we do on a daily basis only becomes a radio log entry or a note on an officers daily. So, consider the following lists as just a general idea of our work load. If we were to type a formal complaint on everything we do, the following numbers would be 2 to 3 times the size they are.. So please keep this information in mind when reviewing these statistics.

Also these statistics are based on MI UCR codes (Uniform Crime Report) - there are times a complaint may be file classed as something other than what it finally turns out to be. Example: A non criminal civil dispute may end up as some form of criminal assault complaint so the assault file classes may not reflect the final outcome of one of our reports. These reports also indicate total initial reports made to us but do not reflect on their final outcome as some may be closed as Unfounded or turned over to another Dept. or agency to do follow-up on.
